So, I'm thinking of getting a third GTX470 so I can run tri-SLI in the 3930k (because why not )--do you guys think I'll be OK with a Corsair TX750 running it? My initial thought is yes, it should be fine--I had two GTX460s and a GTX470 briefly running on an Antec 650w, and I know that the TX750 is a solid PSU.

Either way I imagine that it will be close, but doable. Full specs would be:
- 3930k @ 4.5GHz
- 3xGTX470
- 16GB DDR3
- 1 3.5" HDD, 1 SSD
- about seven fans and a pump

I wouldn't do it if your going to crunch/fold with it. In fact, I doubt I'd do it for just gaming also. That set-up would be real close to that PSU's limits IMO, and a socket 2011 system is still mighty expensive to chance it.

I'm all for the third 470(like you said, why not?), but I'd up the PSU atleast another hundred watts.

The problem is, I already have the TX750 (currently in the 3770k setup). If all I need is a third GTX470, then it becomes a comparatively cheap thing to go out and do (~$80-90 for a GPU). But if I simultaneously have to go out and buy an 850w+ PSU, then it's going to be twice as much.

Maybe I'll just Crossfire the HD7950 and HD7930 and call it a day there.
