I still think Uplay is underrated. I really love the in-game rewards system you get for doing achievements on Uplay, its a lot of fun to me and actually makes me want to do achievements, on steam I just ignore the achievements. /shrug

no one says you have to pay for the overpriced dlc's, its up to the individual if they have enough discipline and perspective to simply enjoy the base game and move on with their lives. i for one am thankful for all the free games.

Yeah sure, but when Jurassic park came along for free on there it was more expensive than steam with the DLC's so i ended up getting it on steam and it's not the only game from there either.

Sure i guess if it's a game that does not need the DLC's, Just Cause 4 comes to mind for the most part.

This helps to explain why they sued Apple. Bad move, though. They’re really gonna pay the price for breaking their contract with Apple.

Maybe yes, or no, but that still doesn't legally entitle someone to break their contract just because they don't like it anymore. If that were the case, then they wouldn't be worth the paper they're written on.

Apple's gonna take them to the cleaners.

So this is why Epic didnt want to disclose sale documents. for good reason it appears.

True, should not of agreed with it in the first place.

Feel free to like what ever you like how ever you like.

I do know money talks and Apple have tons of it sadly, and how shit goes down these days i would not be surprised if Epic were in the right. Don't know no ones saying all that much on it and then when they do who knows if it's the truth anyways.

Actually, in fairness, MS does. Many of their recent titles the last few years have been MS exclusive for up to a year before being sold on other stores as well.

Well then you need to be more specific in the future. You said , Microsoft has no exclusive games and somebody has corrected you're statement. If you meant Microsoft doesn't sell those on Epic Store but only Microsoft store, that's fine but still the exclusives are there.

I can think of a few games that didn't come out for PC. They are Xbox exclusives. Halo 5, Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3. I'm sure there are more but I don't keep up with consoles.

I got a lot of free games there. The problem I have with EGS is the goodies. I am more often after art books and soundtracks, avatars, icon packs and so on and those are often not available in EGS as in Steam and GoG. Like, I got the artbook for Crying Suns, but the OST is outsourced somewhere else.

They are exclusive because MS limits many of their PC games ONLY to the Microsoft store for quite awhile (up to a year) before selling them on Steam or Epic. I’m not against exclusives, just pointing out MS Store is an exclusive storefront also.

It wasn’t until May 30, 2019 that MS decided to stop that practice.

Prior to this MS would regularly make announcements like the following when games would be ok’d to come to another store like Steam:

State of Decay 2, as an example, spent almost 2 years exclusive to the MS Store before selling on Steam.

Games exclusive to a platform is an entirely different argument. Publisher deciding to make its game (or software) an exclusive to a specific platform is normal and accepted - even if we as users do not exactly like that approach.

What Epic is arguing against Apple is that they effectively have no choice other than using Apple App Store if they want their games or software on Apple platforms. They gave up on making the same argument with Google because there are alternative ways to get software to Android other than Google Play.

They are doing what they need to do, to lure people in, and it works. Epic Games Store is not the worst platform if you ask me, Ubisoft and EA far far worse and Steam is so cluttered these days

Glad there's competition, Steam used to milk dev's hard and still does to some degree

Epic Games Store has come a long way and improves fast - I clearly remember how badly Steam sucked on launch and for years after

But they aren't taking Steam down. They are just throwing away profits with free games and the occasional exclusive.

I clearly remember how badly Steam sucked on launch and for years after

I remember as well but the thing is that Valve was breaking new ground with Steam. Epic doesn't have to do that. They already have a blueprint with Steam. Just need to copy that.
