EPlan font needed

Hi,
We have an old filling machine, where parts of the electrical wirering is burnt.
The machine is from 2006/2007 and all documentation is in PDF files.
Unfortunately is the company that build the machine, not existing anymore, and when I try to open the PDF files, is shows only dots and tells that the font "EPL5_850" is missing. I assume that the original documentation where made in EPlan 5.20 - which I dont have.
I have tried open the PDF in Office 365 and all sorts of PDF converters and freeware PDF readers - without luck.

Anybody that have a copy of an EPL5_850 font - or have EPlan installed and can extract/copy the EPL5_850 font??

Yeah ...tried that too, does not work, so hopefully some one has an EPLAN installed, and that someone can copy the font out......

Hmmm, are you sure that .pdf file is not corrupted?

It is not corrupted - I can open it and see a hell lot of dots (when I ignore the "EPL5_850 Font is missing" warning, and all clear text (Ariel fonts).
The dots represents the missing font. (I have a few pages of the original print-outs - and that shows me that the pdf file is correct)

Eplan Support if you have the info off the machine it came from this may help?

Well, it seems to me if you can see some of the information, you should be able to see it all - at least all of the text if not corrupted. Most documents don't use more than one font "family". That is, they may use Ariel regular, plus Ariel bold and Ariel italics, but they don't generally use Time New Roman and Ariel in the same document, for example. Or in your case, EPL5_850 and Ariel.

I wonder if those dots represent inserted images.

EPlan can save the files as PDF, but the saver has to consider not to use proprietary fonts, as they are saved too.....and that assumes that you have the create program installed, in order to be able to read it.....and that the saver forget.....

Ok man I got it "Fixed" for you. It was honestly a strange result. I opened it in Adobe DC Pro and you were 100% right. Missing font all the way. HOWEVER I opened it into Microsoft Edge and the fonts loaded! So if you wanna make life simple on yourself open this puppy up in Edge.

I understand that. What I am saying is it is odd they would use totally different font families in the same document.

Wow! Chalk one up to Edge. I think Microsoft did themselves (and their PR) a big disservice by pushing out Edge when they did as it clearly was an unfinished and very rough, deficient product. But they have continually working hard on it and it keeps impressing me more and more - not enough to become my default browser - yet - but it is getting there.

I just ran into this font issue for the first time and I am able to open my file in Edge, but is there any way to make changes to this file or save the fonts in the pdf when doing a Save As?

Can you copy the text in Edge and paste it into a Word document and then save it as .docx or .pdf?

Thank you for responding. I can probably do that, but the pdf is a wiring schematic and I really didn't want to have to paste all the text on 14 pages.
