So, I was instlalling TESIV: Oblivion, everything went smoothly until the end when the installation window froze up. I tried running Oblivion and a message popped up saying it was missing a file, and that re-installing could fix the problem.

So, I tried reinstalling Oblivion, but a message pops up:

>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (390)
PAPP:Oblivion
PVENDOR:Bethesda Softworks (http://www.bethsoft.com)
PGUID: a lot of numbers
$11.0.0.28844
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600)

I click ok, then it says:

Setup has experienced an error.

Please do the folowing:
-Close any running programs
-Empty your temporary folder
-Check your internet connection
Then try to run the Setup again.
Error code: -5001

I did everything it said, I put the CD back in, and tried to uninstall, but the same error popped up.

Any ideas?

that's a Direct X runtime error.

Install the DX 9c Winter 2005 install of DX9.
download it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Reinstall your video card driver(you might get away with skipping this step, if not you gotta start over)

Now re-install the game. DO NOT let it install DX9 on your computer for you.
