AMD and intel are fairly even in the STOCK comparison, its just that intels OC'd so high that in the enthusiast market they never had a chance.

most stock users look up reviews, hear a chip was a 'great clocker' have no idea what it means and buy it anyway.

Which is 90% of people who buy hardware. I don't consider OCing as pushing performance as much as I consider it optimization of current hardware.

Edit: also every review I've ever seen (other than TPU) has given crappy little overclocks that really don't amount to anything. Pity really.

as I said this will be a beast as long as AMD does some agressive marketing, if they don't it wont sell as well as Intel. You have to win over the hearts and minds of intel users.

Corrected, people who use intel use them because they OC forever, average Joes buy Intel because they look and say "Hey, it's got 'Intel inside,' see? What's this A...M...D? FUCK THAT!"

its entirely depends on the system and its intended uses. if someone is buying a system for high OC's, go intel (its easier, thats for sure if you get a low stock FSB chip)

if someone is buying on a budget the E2160 kicks ass for its OCability, but if they're concerned abotu warranty or have no intention to OC then AMD certainly has a place there.

its not like AMD are useless, its just that in most situations theres a reason to go intel over AMD... and some of those will go away if those new wattage numbers are true.

I go AMD simply for the fact I can't afford top range stuff, I have a crosshair out of dumb luck, but my boards tend to be ECS or lowend ASUS boards that do not overclock at all. Its just a matter of cost, so for me getting the best stock bang for the buck matters. I went x2 4200 after the Core2 E2xxx line was out, as an x2 4200 EE out preforms them at stock and I have low power to boot. My 65w Windows rules.

dont forget that SB750 lowers the TDP compared to SB600.
that test was done with SB600 mobo so Deneb and SB750 would
lower the power draw even more

I still don't trust Chinese sites, but I'll ask my friend's father who works at the AMD building (yeah thats right!) to see if this is true. I'm getting the phone....

3 minutes later....

He's on vacation for 2 weeks.

Congrats, AMD! :toast:

Though I´d like to see power consumption for the 3.2 GHz OC.
Anyways, killing ~50% energy appetite sounds record-breaking to my ears.
