Evangeline's OC'ing Trial

So I'm going to make my adventure public. The goal? Well right now its 5Ghz and a read/write time on my RAM >10k with a latency of <50ns. So, without further ado, here is the hardware:

Asus Rampage Extreme
Intel E8600
Swiftech GTZ + Thermochill PE120.3
OCZ 2000Mhz 4GB DDR3 RAM

My first attempt:

Getting there. This time i needed to bump the Vcore up to 1.41. Things are getting hot. Might need to re-apply my TIM (I think the one I have now isn't working from very large jumps in temp. at load.)

So far I haven't touched my memory, but I started out at 1.38 Volts and 4.7Ghz x_x.

So I went a different route. Right now 4.7GHz+ is causing WAY to much heat because of bad TIM. So I decided to concentrate some on my memory.
I use a high FSB with a low multi. to get a nice CPU speed of 4.6 Ghz and very close to my RAM goal.

Very nice clock and goal. Should be fairly simple to achieve. Just keep the temps down and watch the NB and CPU volts and it will get there easy. The ram will be the tricky part, asus has so many damned options for memory tweaking.

There is definitely something wrong with the CPU cooling, when I had it @ 1.41 V and 4.8 Ghz, under load temperatures constantly went from as low as 51 to as high as 68, is that normal?
I believe it is caused by either a) bad TIM (used a VERY VERY thick diamond TIM), or b)not enough pressure, I am using the crossbow backplate and was deadly afraid of cracking my mobo.
Any advice?

Well, my temps actually are 2* lower,
but now I know for sure its the TIM, im still having jumps at load of over 10*C, so I guess im going to have to reapply.

Could be a whacky sensor too. If it jumps, then drops the next second, I say screwed sensor.
