That's irrelevant, even the people who can afford this kind of stuff, ask the price and question the reasoning behind the product. If AMD offers a close shot for much cheaper and at better efficiency, I'm going to buy that. Time will show but as good as some Kingpin cards are, the idea behind the guy's marketing (extreme overclocks to make every product sell) is also meme worthy.

The Kingpin has always been the crazy flagship. It's the Bugatti of graphics cards. You buy it because you want that specific card and you can afford it. You can strip off the cooler and start working with LN2, it's designed on a hardware basis for extreme cooling. The water block is just how it comes to you , the end user. Many will remove it anyway. It's never about cost - it's not worth it on a component basis, but EVGA know that and the card still sells.

it's one of the highest end 3090s, right? thought it was news worthy

why did the Gigabyte Vision 3090 get a news post, but not the KINGPIN?

Hmm? why?

EVGA lives here no more - Mr. P4. Unironically they pretty much killed part of the community just like they killed some of their product lines with time, such as motherboards. Not much left to simp the brand for anymore. They were great, 11 years ago. Nowadays you buy them for a few GPUs and that's it.

If you're complaining about the price of kingpin model you're not the target audience. This is aimed primarily at pro overclockers. If you want to use it for a daily setup there's no point in buying it other than a tax write-off.

Selling and products being relevant are different things. They might have one or two boards but almost nobody buys them anymore. This was not the case over 10 years ago, but things were bound to go this way because EVGA can't get their heads out of Intel and Nvidia. Honestly though, motherboards started either not being released after news or just being crap way before Zen was released.

There are still a metric button of people buying both Intel and NVIDIA.

Not saying I'd go with exclusives, but I hardly see that making then "irrelevant." Just irrelevant to a certain group.

That wasn't the only reason of the failure. They didn't keep making the boards for a good amount of gens and even when they made them, back when some 5 years ago, the BIOS'es were horrible and so were the layouts. People barely bought them, and their current line of PSUs are also behind. They don't know what they're doing, and are trying to wash people with snake oil products such as Powerlink.

Uh... aren't they regarded as some of the best? Not sure I'd call their flagship superflower Titanium line "behind." It's probably the third best psu platform in existence, with Seasonics Prime and Flextronics stuff a tie for first/second.

No, definitely not. Titanium is not the common denominator and at that point there are better PSUs. The Supernova Gold is what people aim for, and the G5 is behind what others offer in many ways.

That G4 is still Superflower leadex build (ie excellent) and about it's only competitor is the Prime platform.

Not seeing it man.

I was on about the G5 and platform alone doesn't make a Gold 750W sell around $150. Your reviewer of this site gave it a 3 out of 5 down Tom's. Go figure.

Probably because the G5 is a shitty FSP platform (not horrid, but nowhere near leadex).

No idea why they did that. Maybe you do have a point afterall. They are charging the same for what is arguably far worse and using marketing to make it sound "cool."

The Super Flower EVGA units are behind too, you can get Super Flower's own in the U.S, for much cheaper, and newer versions now.
