My Sapphire RX480 just died after my PC turned off while playing Hitman and I'm looking for a new GPU, I live in Sicily and here it gets pretty hot, unfortunately my budget is my refund budget from the RX480 and after scouring the internet those 2 cards are the best I can afford.

That said i can get each cards for the same price so it's just a matter of which one is better, the GTX1060 generally run cooler but that one is a single fan setup while the RX580 seems to draw a lot more power and heat up more although it's a dual fan setup, my old RX480 nitro+ used to get pretty hot and I had to cap FPS at 60 to avoid it going above 80°c.

You won't notice any difference on 1080p.
You will simply have better temps and less wattage with the 1060.
I went from a rx580 to the EVGA SC 1060...
There is an actual difference in performance... It's just too small to notice.

My RX 480 only tops out at 60c at an ambient temp of 25c.

What case do you use?

I use the corsair 650D and have good front to rear air flow which gives me good temps plus I also changed the cards thermal paste which dropped the temps 10c from normal
