So they slapped a 6 pin on there and left off a factory overclock? That's pretty odd. Also it's pretty bad that the MSI card is so quiet and this is the same price, is loud, and has no overclock.

which dosnt make all that much sense when you think about.

i have just bought the palit 1650 card.. its quite tiny and with plus 200 on the core and plus 300 on the memory runs at 64 C with 45% fan duty..

so far out the tpu review cards the diminutive palit card is the only one that makes sense..

Sure but there are others with better video outputs, like the zotac reviewed on guru3d. I would not even bother to OC gpu on the cards without that 6-pin connector though, just OC memory as high as it goes and leave core at stock.

On balance, no HEVC B frame support on TU117 is probably not a big loss. Anyone doing quality encoding is using X264/5 anyway. The main use case is real time streaming in 4k where adding more latency to an already low FPS scenario would be pointless. On the other hand, output quality has improved with Tu & latest VCSDK9, so a cheap way to access quick HQ trans/encoding would be nice. Unfortunately, NV has reduced the number of NVENC engines in Tu, so performance is lower.

You mean from high end Turings? On Pascal gp106 and lower chips have only one nvenc engine.

Yes, as per the above link. TU102/4 have only one encode engine. Interestingly, it appears TU104 has dual decode engines enabled only on Quadro/Tesla SKUs.
