I bought gtx 780 couple days ago and i opened gpu-z and saw that card is running on pci 2.0 knowing that my motherboard supports 3.0. I found on internet software that force-enable 3.0. I tried it fallowed all instructions. Everything went fine a restarted my pc and since then just blackscreen. No picture nothing. I thought that motherboard bios was wrong so i changed it still nothing. Then i tried nvflash and nvflash does't recognized my card. I dont know what to do

What is it these days with people's first solution in the book for everything GPU to flash the BIOS?!

And why would you enable a backwards compatible standard anyway. This card will do fine even on PCIE2.0 x8

If you can roll back, roll back. And next time you read 'force enable' only do this if you really need to.

then you'e limited to pci-e 2.0, no way it can run 3.0 on sandy bridge.

Go back to the page where you found that force enabling 3.0 thing, and figure out what files it changes. Replace the originals of those files. If it was a BIOS update of some sort, try to flash back the old one. (I mean motherboard bios, not GPU)

If that isn't enough info post back with a link where you found it

Not sure how any software can force enable PCI-E 3.0 on a PCI-E 2.0 motherboard unless it does or tries to do something magical with the Bios, the only thing I can think of that might help is.....

1. Remove CMOS battery, wait for a minute and re-install then boot back up with Bios defaults.

If that fail's......

Re-flash Bios downloaded from manufacturers website.

You would need a P67 or z68 motherboard, AND an Ivy Bridge CPU to get PCIe 3.0.

Actually there is one instance but it doesn’t apply to the OP. On SB-E X79 boards, Nvidia provided a small executable which unlocks PCIe 3.0. They flat out say it may or may not work. For me, it worked on a GA X79.

not in H61 boards, is a feature for Z68 and / or P67, or Ivy oriented boards, zuch Z77

Be more specific, when does the screen goes black?
1- Can you get to the BIOS with the card installed? If not then reset the BIOS to factory default.
2- You can see the computer post but it fails to load Windows? = Bad drivers or corrupt Windows. Try to boot in safe mode and uninstall what you previously installed.
3- Can't get to safe mode? Repair or format and reinstall Windows.

So, is this a new habit to try and run both AMD drivers and Nvidia drivers at the same time?

You are aware that you should clear out old drivers when switching Brands.
