The EVGA 1000 G6 is worthy of your attention if you seek a powerful, compact power supply for a potent gaming system. It uses a proven Seasonic platform that received some upgrades to match the competition. With a better price, it will give competing offerings in this category a hard time.

Hello...

Thanks for the review crmaris...looks like we showed up at TechPowerUP! almost on the same day! :)

In your introduction you mentioned the legendary G2 models?

I believe the G3's were from the Super Flower Leadex II platform? Although, with the G3's I really didn't care for the revision in quality of the chassis. While smaller(in most cases), the materials used seemed to be lacking the quality of the G1 and G2's.

I've personally loaded up on all three and tucked them away for future use. From my perspective they are - that good.

This G6 on the other hand...is a Seasonic model? I used to be a big fan of Seasonic, but I just had too many issues with high-pitched whining(ringing in the ears, I'm susceptible to tinnitus.) and later on...electrical noise and coil whine too boot. Although, it's not all negative with Seasonic...if you get a good one...they are reliable. At least from perspective.

Best Regards,

Liquid Cool

I like EVGA, but why not just purchase an actual Seasonic platinum.

Have to disagree with the review on one point. The statement in the thumbs down section "Expensive", this is not a good assessment. If you go look as 1000w PSUs at your retailer/etailer of choice, you soon find what I'm talking about. This quality of performance for $220? That is a very reason price. Everything else in this tier is more expensive. You even said such yourself:
With a better price, it will give competing offerings in this category a hard time.

Other than that point, great review!

EDIT:
Thanks too @Ravenas for the link below, It seems Newegg has this model for $170 so the price arguement is not an issue. $170 is an excellent deal for this PSU!

Pricing is 1 reason.

Read the review and you will know
Focus gold is is $179, same platform. Prime is $209. Prime Platinum is $249. I don’t see the price increase. Would rather buy the real deal.

Where are you looking? Because I'm not seeing that here, nor here.
Now if you want to go with some lower quality units or older models, ok you'll get 1000w under $220. But not in the tier of performance this PSU offers.

This one is comparable. $1 difference price to buyer.

You argument is failing.

Just provided 3 models available on Newegg. Straight from Seasonic. Oh well, I guess some prefer the brand EVGA.

This one is comparable. $1 difference price to buyer.

219.99 versus 209.99. 2 additional years of warranty. I'm wondering which is going to be preferred, the rebrand or the brand.

EDIT:

Now it's actually worth it $169.99:

EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G6, 80 Plus Gold 1000W, Fully Modular, Eco Mode with FDB Fan, 10 Year Warranty, Includes Power ON Self Tester, Compact 140mm Size, Power Supply 220-G6-1000-X1 - Newegg.com

As usually I am horrified how draconically the disassembly is done, even damaging the device. I would be ashamed to post something like that.

Hi,
I use evga p2 series mainly but they also have a rma center in the US
Not sure where seasonic's is but they to would need one in the US before I would entertain a product from them.

Seasonic is a Taiwain based company. Their RMAs are serviced in the USA for USA based customers. EVGA likely uses the same group to RMA these PSUs since they are Seasonic platforms and manufactured by Seasonic.

when is EVGA releasing a true G2/P2/T2 successor? (leadex 1/plat/titanium) Seasonic is fine but i'd much rather go leadex for cheaper...

A good redemption from the awful G5, with active clamp reset forward design, imagine using that on an RTX 3000 series, the power spikes would blow a fuse inside it

I'v noticed lots of complaints about high inrush current on 230v, seems like Seasonic units arent an optimal choice for Europe and pal regions or am i wrong ?

While its great EVGA partnered with Seasonic, EVGA earned "legendary psu status" because of their collaboration with SuperFlower on the G2 ,G3 P2, and T2 power supplies, why cant they just collaborate with them again ?

I mean in the toms hardware review of the 850w G6, he mentions how the g6 model does not achieve the high performance of the G3 model from SuperFlower, but it does come close.

I think EVGA should stop dancing around and come back to SuperFlower, as of now, whatever EVGA decided to do, anything was going to be an upgrade from the Geee 5, lol

Corsair RM1000x (2021) uses cables with in-line caps.
Is it a pro or con?
Neither actually.
In the past , PSUs with in-cable caps could offer significantly better ripple suppresion Vs PSUs without in-cable caps.
Nowadays most of the platforms have evolved , thus the ripple suppresion is pretty much similar in both cases (*we are only talking about high-quality PSUs of course)

P.S. For many people , the downside with a PSU with in-cable caps is simply its aesthetics and its usability ,since these cables are somewhat usually bulkier. Other than that , both types of cables can be equally good.
