Hi,
Yep always liked the dark but either evga waited to long to release it or it was just to freaking overpriced
I remember they were way late on releasing x299 dark plus overpriced and they were just flat out dumping them on their ebay store front for 150.us and then eventually on their main site.

I wouldn't pay more than $250 for a mobo even if it bakes a cake.
I always lol when people say that. But paying over 1000 for a GPU and over 500 for a CPU is okay?
Buying expensive CPU/GPU and them skimping on motherboard and PSU and then wondering why their system is unstable and has problems.

PC should be balanced. Like Thanos said: perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
It all depends on the budget. If the total cost of the PC is less than 600 then obviously there is no point in spending 250 on a motherboard. But if the PC costs 3000 the cheaping out on the motherboard or PSU is just sad.

Just an FYI about the VRM fans not being controllable... try FanControl from GitHub. It might let you control those fans as long as it's exposed to the software.

Surprised that it has no Thunderbolt 4 support, only USB4. For $700 I would expect it to have everything.

I don't think the lack of 12v RGB is a negative. No one who spends $700 on a motherboard is going to be using it.
You would be surprised. Literally the EKWB waterblock in the photos is a 12v one. Couldn't connect it up. Lots of RGB strips on Amazon are too.

I believe deepcool makes a converter hub, but that cost money.

Surprised that it has no Thunderbolt 4 support, only USB4. For $700 I would expect it to have everything.
Well it uses TB4 drivers and software. Just not officially certified for it.

I'm just glad to see EVGA doing something now that they no longer make video cards. I remember the days when EVGA motherboards were prolific and I'm glad to see them at it again. Now, if only XFX will start making motherboards again...

What the hell.... The whole SLI concept started with 3DFX where you could pair another identical card and get as as much as 50% performance improvement. The same applied for both AMD or Nvidia, and games that did support it worked flawless. SLI is a great concept but too much of a hassle to get it right. It all depends on game devs and not AMD or Nvidia in regards of driver support.

The future will be multi-modules anyway, where a few graphical chips work as one and tackle any latency by keeping everything as close as possible in regards of hardware.

Anyway; great board. EVGA really puts the dot on the i. They should start making AMD boards as well.
That's just it. It sometimes worked, sort of, if the stars aligned. Even then, you could have stuttering in the same game and on a similar configuration where the next guy didn't. That is not how you launch something that is supposed to gain serious market traction.

$700, seems like madness to me.
The thing about evga is their launch price is 99% of the time a "fanboy consumer" price. Expect this to be discounted massively in the not far future... you can actually get decent deals that way.

I don't recall suggesting i'd pay $1000 for a GPU or $500 for a CPU. I don't skimp either on any part providing its reasonably priced and offers optimal performance and reliability without having to fork out x2-x3 the cost for premium or overpriced flagship parts. Even some of the older $150 boards PCI-E 3.0/4.0 are feature-abundant to carry me long into a 5-year excursion only i'd fancy bagging a more current platform with faster non-modifier 6/8 core processor in the ~$250 region (FYI, for me even thats a little too pricey but I guess these boards support some decent features which may prove useful in the long run). That's not to say those who require or fancy the added perks on these ~$700 options is pointless, only my personal requirements (and i assume for the majority of buyers) are fulfilled with something one third of the cost (or less).

For $700 it definitely lives up to the "CLASSIFIED" kick in the teeth for the majority of us. I wouldn't pay more than $250 for a mobo even if it bakes a cake. But then again, i like EVGA....so be kind!! They gotto make up the dollar after nV probably shafted them.
yeah, 700$ for this abomination is ridiculous, while Z790 Apex 700$ and Z790 Master 500$
- Mediocre memory OC
- Bad looking
- High Price
- Buggy bioses

I have Z690 Classified and this board design is amazing (looking and connectors)
But memory OC is disappointing vs competitors

Best thing they could do is make 2-dimm version of Z690 classified + some minor changes and z790 classified is ready for 350$

$700 is a lot, but it's actually a pretty good price for hardcore overclocking. There are contraptions (i.e. mobos with built-in liquid cooling) that can break the $1,000 barrier. At least this one offers useful features.

And no, not a typo, that's how "unlimited" is written in UEFI. I've seen it on my Asus board, too. It just means that the constraint is the temperature instead.
over clocking that? the advantages over overclocking for 5+years is super low....do u know the most popular device in many years is a swtich(2017 300 bucks system) that runs the wticher 3 at 540p lowest possible settings and cant hit 30 fps almost ever? 700 is insnane that a entire pc for 500 dollars with cpu/gpu/ everything/ a controler too console.. 700 is what stupid ppl who spend 50k on any vehicle.... it lit spend 8 years ago 32k on a house...ppl buy trucks that are 8-20k more expensive that get 30-60% less mpg... so 4.00 a gallon ppl i work with or near are kinda payin 5-7 dollars if u understand mpg.... i know too many ppl broke/cry about gas when its free with my 37 mpg car and my company gives me money to drive if i drove a truck or suv it would cost me about 2.5 to 3 k EXTRA a year so 6 years x3k is 18k in money for not using a large vehicle

- Mediocre memory OC
Max stable mem OC if you were to manually enter it yourself is "okay". BIOS 1.07 (Beta) was worse.
- Bad looking
As for looks, that is per person. I don't think it looks better or worse than any other vendors.
- High Price
Eh.. It isn't the best, or the worst for a MB with 10 LAN and USB4. Probably would be better priced around $500.

- Buggy bioses
I besides the second memory profile not supported, It didn't seem buggy to me. I'm not a fan of allowing such high CPU voltages and still be considered "daily" by EVGA.

What I love: usb c only for display output. I hate having HDMI etc onboard because inevitably people will try to plug their monitor in there when they should be plugging it into their video card, plus HDMI, DP, etc. just waste space, since nobody buying a $700 motherboard is going to use the iGPU except maaaaaybe for Intel QSV but you don’t need a monitor connected for that.

what I don’t love: the price, just too expensive for what it is, and the UEFI BIOS is SO UGLY. Literally every other motherboard brand has a more professional, nice looking design there.

Not really sure why they went 4DIMM on this one lol

I think the Dark already exists and does well as the high end offering, the lower end offering should be a downcosted 2DIMM board. Trim a lot of the fluff off like built in wifi, multi GPU support, dual NICs but try to retain as much as possible of the OCing features and performance of the Dark.

What will get people interested in these boards isn't $700 "jack of all trades" boards, but affordable boards that have what people need and are also fun for OCing.

Great video from Luumi about 4x memory OC. As expected, it is 100% not plug n play. DDR5-7200 stable after a lot of tweaking. Posted into windows at 7000 and used BLCK to raise it to 7200. This is the highest Lummi was able to pass HCI memtest.

I was about able to get anywhere close to 8600 for 2 DIMMS. But I am also not a XOC overclocker either :). Seems like ALL the timings are manual entered.... that's a big time sink and you have to know what every value does.
