Nononono, EVGA. I want to buy the one that's NOT $150 over MSRP:

it IS msrp, you're just paying a $150 premium for a +45mhz boost clock . . UP TO 45mhz that is . . . /s

Sign up for EVGA Auto Notify. Their current policy stipulates that you can only sign up for one e-mail queue per product GPU family (like one 1660, one 3050, one 3080, etc.).

I scored an EVGA GeForce RTX 3050 XC GAMING (P/N 08G-3050-3553-KR) at the MSRP of $329. This is eighty dollars more than the $249 entry level model, the XC Black. I deliberately signed up for the more expensive model mostly because I wanted the metal backplate (there's a 2% OC on the non-Black model which doesn't affect real world performance). Had I wanted to, I could have ignored the offer and then queue up for the cheaper model. But I paid $329; at least the money goes to EVGA and not some scalper.

Clearly the cheaper 1660 Ultra Black model is the more popular one which is why it's only being offered to e-mail queue participants. The 2% OC isn't worth the $150 upcharge. As looniam states, they are both at MSRP.

I'm actually on the list for both the OOS 1660S. One did ping, but I didn't get the email before it sold out. So I jumped back in line.

Well then, you'll need to be patient again and more attentive once you get pinged. This isn't EVGA's responsibility because clearly there are people (including me) who have responded timely to the e-mail offers.

I didn't *NEED* the EVGA 3050. It replaced a perfectly functional Radeon RX 550 2GB card. However I'm just not one to turn down a low-end graphics card at MSRP in the current marketplace.

I've always been wondering that what's the point of these "OC" cards with a ridiculous small OC but still a notable price premium.

I understand the true factory-OC cards like Gigabyte SOC back in the day.

Gross margin.

As someone who invests in publicly traded companies, it's hard to object to this basic principle. I live in a free market economy.

Clearly, AIB partners like EVGA are motivated to tell Nvidia that they have products that match their RRP. So they sell a few basic specced units at retail and the rest of them go to channel sales (like system builders). There is nothing new about this during this GPU crunch.

well the sarcasm is its extreme anymore, but previously (ancient history) evga would take reference design and add $10/20 for a clock speed bump, then $20/40+ for an included backplate.

then RGB happened.

I can understand the little price premium for a backplate, but for that small OC.. it's just stupid.

Why not buy the RTX 3050, its gtx 1660 super performance with more ram and RT ampere features, its close to 1660 super msrp so whatever you end up paying, wouldn't be much higher than an inflated 1660 super

I know how this works, and am not looking for advice here; just kvetching a bit, and trying to be maybe a little bit funny while I'm at it.

At $250 that's probably the better play, but street price for the 3050 is nearly $400, and EVGA has disabled new notifications. I'm not prepared to pay inflated 1660S pricing, let alone higher.

Seeing you have an RX 470 i wouldn't upgrade now, its clear you dont have the income to buy expensive gpus, so paying so much for a 1660s when if you waited a little longer you could buy a much better GPU, maybe like a used rtx 3060 that would be a steal deal!

RX 470 i great, its gtx 1050Ti performance which is a not so bad card all things considered, that's my two cents

Hi,
EVGA's site I've never bought from there
It's always high only local micro center or maybe amazon or even evga's ebay store will you find cheaper prices but this is before the mining surge messed everything up.

I did just for giggles get on evga alerts for 3090 ftw ultra 3080ti ....

'S true, they don't ever discount their new stuff below MSRP. I've bought a mess of B-stock direct though, mostly power supplies. There's frequently deals to be had there, and I haven't been burnt by a bad part yet.

Hi,
B-stock used to be good for gpu's but a while back and I posted on the gpu price thread about some available units but all of them looked like they were more than original release price years ago :kookoo:
