also that ... i saw some laptops with 1050 and 1050Ti's being quite cheap lately
Not just some, a lot. Just a few weeks ago I was browsing for some decent laptops for one of my clients, and from what I've seen you can get a decent 7th gen slim laptop w/ dedicated GTX1050 or 1050Ti for less than $900 (and that's with an i5-7300HQ, e.g. a real quad-core CPU). My favorite is the last-year's HP Pavilion Power, which is basically a bit slimmed-down and less awkward version of their gaming HP Omen lineup. I'm actually thinking about selling off some of my older crap and buying one of those, or an equivalent Clevo DreamMachines (both price and config is pretty much the same).

The idea of using a MXM card is pretty nice so it isnt as big as a mITX case like most other eGPU boxes.
And a 1060 or even 1070 in maybe a slightly larger case could make this an actual solid product...

This would be interesting to see if you could pair this with the new Dex pad for Galaxy S8/S9 after Samsung releases their Linux on Galaxy App (their likely running arm versions on Linux).. Maybe it could help bring older games like Skyrim to mobile phones if Google comes out with Fuchsia on a phone in a couple years. We could get an arm graphics driver from Nvidia for a completely new OS in a couple years right? Or maybe they'll install a dope cooling system in the next version and use Gtx 1080ti. I suppose it's going to be impossible to make money with this project but at least they made it easier for people with older laptops find a compatible graphics card for their system. Maybe Nvidia will start making arm GPU drivers after Windows 10 on arm gains popularity. In every case, I feel like this is something Nvidia would have already patented and deployed if it had a large potential for marketing. It's good to see there's people out there doing what they can to help. :) When this can be plugged in a phone and charge the phone then I'll be stoked, at least it brings a better chance at Cemu on Android in a few years at the earliest or maybe Microsoft will regain some gaming market share. ...none of my ideas work either.

Does it have Thunderbolt3? If not, that's not happening.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
An "exklim" user showed up on the egpu.io forum thread about them. I've confronted them with a wall of text of questions about their device (and company). I hope they answer at least a few.

You can see the wall of text here. No replies so far, just avoidance.
i did read...

funny that they state being on Canadian french side which would explain gibberish English ... (wait did they seriously wrote "English is hard" ? that's rich for defining the easiest language to learn around the world ... ) since Canada is mostly English speaking ... it's highly unlikely that a French-Canadian would have any issues in English.

but they actually have a "Chinese" way of wording in English (Chinglish?)

i can't understand that excuse, i am Swiss French-speaking side ... and English is not one of my country 4 national language, unlike for them (oh wait they have 2 or i am mistaken)

everything is fishy about them .... specially the way they put their product forward, as if it was a technological advance, something worth of notice or even priced adequately....
the chronological picture going from 2015 to 2018 is worth a barrel of laugh .... :
"exklim(r) Rebuilding the GPU" yeah right as if they did anything,

"groundbreaking developement. We have minimize size and maximize efficiency" that one sound like a Aliexpress/Alibaba/banggood/GearBest seller ... and come on ... they only did put a MXM mdGPU in a fancy case with a tiny fan,

"finalized first rebuilded MXM 3.1 Type A GPU" .... yeah right again .... they did rebuild the MXM better

world funniest statement (among a huge lot of them on their kick) right ... MXM didn't exist before them

(funny i am pretty sure that you would do all they did, in a DIY fashion, just like eGPU were also possible like that and not by passing via the "known manufacturer case" eGPU box

Is it just me, or does anyone else prefer to do their gaming on a large desktop monitor with full-sized controls (mouse, keyboard or controller)? I don't understand the appeal of squinting at a 5" screen while gaming.

I guess there is this huge group of young people called students, that live with 5 roommates in a one room apartment and spend lots of their time hanging around everywhere but their tiny place and they are carrying backpack at all times. I'd say there is no appeal in that, and what's really appealing to them is a dream of their own place and full size desktop rig.
Autogenerated spanish subtitles autotranslated to english are almost readable ... but I did gather that they faked their plug and play (hot swap) demo video, and I lol'd at a dude stock photo model in their company photo

Any PC that has a Thunderbolt 3 in it, which is kind of pointless...
If you are building a PC, might as well get a dedicated GPU, or if you buy a $900 laptop, might as well get an option without thunderbolt, but with dedicated GTX1050Ti or higher.

Basically it only makes sense for upper models of Intel NUC, few other $500+ miniPCs and, of course, Macbooks. I know for sure it ain't gonna make S#1T for my AsRock DeskMini H110.

What we need, is a global popularization of a hotplug PCIe (similar to newer Alienware laptops w/ dedicated eGPU port). Maybe it's not the best and prettiest solution, but since TB3 is not getting cheaper nothing else makes sense.
We HAVE that already, its called TB3 over USBC. The fact is demand for these things will be low, as always, so the price will remain high. a GPU-in-a-box is a niche product with only a niche audience, ti will never be a scheap or make as much sense as internal parts.

As an update, their Kickstarter was suspended and the funding cancelled. No reason was provided, but I would suspect Kickstarter found something non-kosher with regards to the project.
