Exterior wifi (booster)

Hey I'm hopeful someone might know what I'm looking for here. I've tried searching but haven't been able to find anything on exterior wifi boosters.

Basically I'm looking for something that I can plug-in to my router to carry a wifi signal through an exterior wall and into my yard. I'm thinking there might be an ethernet satellite or antenna product that might do this but I can't seem to find anything. Ideally it would be waterproof or something I could mount on an exterior wall.

Would you guys be able to suggest anything or maybe point me in the right direction?

i use those wall plug "home booster plugs". you can connect 1 to your router and the other one to a GOOD extension lead and the extension connects to any power outlet Then you can put it almost anywhere you like (i ran mine to a caravan which is right at the end of my property)
in the caravan i connected an old unused router and set that up as an access point. So you can connect to that router via wifi almost any where in the garden, or if closer to the house you can use the wifi from the main router. in the caravan, you can also connect a laptop or similar to the router via lan cable, it Makes for a decent man cave and keeps the wife and kids happy to have wifi outside..

You're just looking for a wifi extender or repeater, specifically rated for outdoors use. Many exist, but most require ethernet (wired) in due to the fact the wifi aerials are directional.

You could pair it with homeplug adaptors to bypass that need

Router wired to homeplug 1 in power socket
Homeplug 2 outside or nearby, wired to outdoor/weatherproof wireless AP

Well I'm able to run an ethernet from my modem/router unit to the wall I intend to mount it to, will just need to put a hole in the wall then reseal it.

That does seem outdoor rated and omnidirectional, how big an area are you trying to cover? Is it for phone and general use, or something more demanding for speeds?

Heres a 1200Mb vs the 300Mb you listed, and it can be powered by the ethernet cable itself (with the right power adaptor)

The target range would be around 50ft but I could make use of greater range.
It's mostly for phones to pickup the signal around the property (gazebo/sitting area).

Also, I've been seeing a few diagrams with "POE" or "switch" as a component, do I need to get one of these as well? Currently I'm using a modem/router unit that was provided by my ISP.

POE is power over ethernet, which means it uses the ethernet cable for power as well as data

You simply get a PoE injector which is basically an adaptor that has ethernet+power in, powered ethernet goes out to the AP

Oh ok gotcha thanks, that might be better for my situation. Do these adapters weaken the signal by any noticeable amount?

the POE injectors work upto 100M, as a wired device they dont have range limits. PoE injectors are not my specialty, but i had ones come free with some wifi AP's years ago... you may not need an expensive model to get what you want done.
