I think "you" and the rest of the world have a different understanding of the word "boring"

Depends of OC is included or not. If not, any 3-heatpipe 90MM+fan tower cooler pretty much would do the job. Heat conductivity is proper.

Also, many people in this thread seem to be confused regarding the target audience of this CPU, as per usual.

Please explain exactly how many millions of $$ were derailed from the product development and mfgr'ing process to the packaging/marketing dept.....

I'm pretty sure 99.9999% of us here would prefer to have a better, higher performing/faster, cooler, AND cheaper cpu in a less-extravagant box rather than the other way around...

Except they're not the "same." As GPU becomes faster, the difference increases. You pay less for AMD, but you also get less from them. 9900k @ 5GHz will steal the the crown from our current emperor 8700k until Intel decides to usurp their own throne with Ice Lake.

i was not talking about games ... but well not much difference here too ... awwww crap (FX6300 to 4690K not much difference either... and i am not talking about benchmark ...)

8700K emperor? that one is also 100/200$ higher than a 2600X/2700X for me ... not worth it for a few fps difference (%'age show wider gap but the true difference is what ... 5-10 fps ... )
5GHZ on 1 core boost ...

and getting less but not much more less is not an issue.

Ryzen did shake up Intel but people still think there is an abyss in IPC between them (oh well ... waiting Ryzen 2 then )

actually yep ... competition (red side) have a pretty capable CPU at a more decent price (and even if they counter with a 2800X slightly higher priced than the 2700X it will still be cheaper than the 9900K MSRP) and yep for me the 9900K will be 650-1000€ (580$ is the price of a 8700K most of the time for me)

And before we start on what's what... Football in Europe alone is pushing 22 billion in revenue yearly, Rugby across the entire world does just over 2.3 billion

It is "guuuud" so long as the performance is similar but the reverse is also true: if the price is too different while the performance is similar, there's the "danger" the lower price will increase to match it.

Unfortunately, in this resolution any processor will bottleneck the 2080 ti. This is a sign of IPC stagnation...

I think it's gonna be our reality soon. RX Vega is a pure example of that.

No because there were "unusual" circumstances on top of very high HBM prices: mining craze.

The proof is that it's already possible to find brand new Vega cards @ MSRP prices.

Were it not for the very expensive HBM RAM, i'm sure the MSRP would be much lower. nVidia's cards that also use HBM also cost a lot more so the extra HBM price is more diluted in those cases than in Vega's case.

I don't care if the box is shaped in the form of a unicorn: what matters is what's inside.

That said, the box is actually quite ugly with those colors: perhaps with different coloring it could be more pleasing.

Still, unless it also includes a cooler, it's way too expensive for the extra performance it's supposed to provide (no reviews yet) and even then it depends on the quality of the cooler: if it's like old Intel stock coolers, it's nowhere near enough to justify the difference in price, IMO.

With the Threadripper 2 box, i still don't care about the box itself but, unlike with I9-9900K's approach, it's actually quite pleasing to the eye, IMHO.

At most FPS gaming scenarios it will be darn near identical. I've used both. Not sure what that graph is smoking... but it's likely choosing a very particular intel biased situation. (and before you go "lol everything is" there ARE AMD biased situations too).

Tell me,how many ryzen users actually need a 16 thread productivity cpu and how many just count thread per dollar ratio ? games use more threads, but people act as if single core performance was going away as a contributing factor. most of you need to learn the term equivalency. the fact that a game can spread the load across 16 threads does not mean it's equivalent to a fast hexacore at 70% load.

until prices for intel went nuts, AMD had nothing on 8600k, unless you needed 12/16 threads.

Edit: Just to recap, anyone buying a 9900k strictly for gaming is wasting their money but that is their prerogative. Therefore, someone buying a 9900k probably isn't running a 1440 or 1080 hi-refresh. So alas, they are probably running a monitor focused on color reproduction which means it is probably 60-75hz.
