Extremely cheap GPU from Aliexpress for $43 - GTX750 1GB DDR5 review

I could not miss it, and I bought it. 43USD for gpu? Madness

It got the same performance like GT1030 but GTX750 is just a half price GPU.

That's gonna be pretty useless for gaming. Power is in the order of an IGP, so only really old games will run ok on it - I'm talking something like 2004 or older.

Best to buy it as just as something to fiddle about with.

U woot m8? 2004 games? Noooo. A lot of games will run smooth enough on this GPU. A lot. I had a lot of iGPUs and GPUs. That GTX750 is on the same level like GT1030 (I got it) / VEGA 8 (I had it) / VEGA 10.

And please, dont tell me about GTX580.... why? TDP=244W - thanks god - that time just passed. Modern PC is just a low power system. No heat, no sudden death, no huge coolers, no extreme PSU requirements.

The gpu itself is ok as long it's not the fake one. Just be cautious when the tag is cheap

@adamiakadam00 That 1GB RAM will strangle it, even at 1080p though in modern games. A lower resolution will help a lot here.

I remember how tremendously powerful the GPU in my 780 Ti was, but it still ran out of RAM when playing CoD at 1080p and that was 3GB. That was a big motivation for upgrading to the 1080 along with full DX12 capability. Incredibly, the GPU still had enough horsepower to run modern games well despite its age, but the small* RAM let it down.

*Heck, there's nothing small about 3 billion bytes, but it's all relative.

Thats not the comparison, its called perspective; a 750ti is old news with too little VRAM to be considered any better than an IGP like you get at 90 bucks in a Ryzen 2200G for example. That makes it a pretty expensive and power hungry part in 2018. The 2200G doubles as a pretty fast quad core

Its not bad or anything, but there are better things out there. And a GT1030 is bottom barrel too as a separate GPU. At this perf level the best choice is an APU

I mean it definitely is not a powerful GPU by todays' standards, but 2004 games? Really?

Anyways, that's still a solid entry level GPU, if only it was the 2GB version then it would be much better.

That's only an approximate guide, really. Depends on how high end the game is as well as when it was created. Simple games created yesterday would of course run just fine on it, too.

Of course but I'd bet that games from 2010, maybe 2012 would run really well on decent settings too, stuff like Deus Ex: Human Revolution etc.

Yeah perhaps, it would depend on the game, settings and resolution.

It's really not tho, entry level implies it should have a tiny bit of staying power. This thing, like has been said already, is useless for any graphic intensive games/video editing. The only thing I could see this being good for in the gaming realm is on a dedicated streaming rig.

Well, some people, myself included, still play with this GPU, so I guess it can be used for gaming. Now the question is, as qubit already mentioned, what games/settings are you using and what exactly is playable to you. Most games will run on this cards, with tweaked settings, so I'd say it is an entry level GPU, personal opinion of course.

I had 2200G with VEGA 8. I KNOW THAT GTX750 IS BETTER THAN VEGA 8.

Why? PES 2018 - vega 8 @1500MHz = microshuttering. GT1030 = no microstuttering. GTX750 = no microstuttering.

Seriously, I'm not surprised it works better and the reason is that NVIDIA have better frame pacing than AMD.

Waaay back in 2009, I bought an AMD HD 4790 (I might have the model number slightly wrong, it's been a while) reference model. Decent performance and worked quite nicely, but little stutters here and there like you expect to see and a bit noisy when pushed, too.

I then bought the legendary GTX 8800 reference card used for the princely sum of £60, to play around with. While it benched slower than the AMD card, the overall gaming experience was a lot smoother and nicer and in some scenarios it was actually a bit quicker too. Noise performance was also noticeably better. Incredible performance and no wonder it cost £500 when new.

That AMD card soon found itself on eBay and I was then the proud owner of a GTX 285 which is like the GTX 8800 on steroids. The driver control panel had better features too and I haven't looked back since.

I still played until a month ago on a GTX 770 2GB and it was fine. Games were playable at 1440P and the graphics were not terrible. I was able to get a solid 60 FPS confirmed using the steam FPS overlay and running medium high for GTA V and Doom 2016 not a problem. It did not impair my enjoyment of any modern game. Some of the commentators on here do not realize that older hardware still works fine for games and that there are people who have less money to blow on computer hobbies.

Anyway there are plenty of games that will still run with mid/high settings on cards weaker than a real GTX 550 Ti. Just don't expect every AAA title to run maxed and play stuff at 4k.

The 1GB is a bit of a bummer I agree, but it's definitely not a dealbreaker IMO

And assuming it is the real GDDR5 stuff I don't rlly think you can compare it very directly vs iGPUs outside of benchmarks since those are really memory bandwidth starved in comparison. And even then you will need to look very specifically at in which situations the iGPU is bandwidth starved and when it isnt. Not 100% on how much DDR4 helps since ur on almost 2x the standard D3 bandwidth, but it's still significantly less than GD5.

Also if you are talking full system builds remember that you will not need to spend as much on RAM and potentially a motherboard that runs the faster memory. At $43 this is definitely a steal, especially since you can get a nice fast intel quad (8100) for only slightly more than the ryzen APU.

It wasn't when it came out in November 2013. The 980 Ti came out in May 2015, a very long time later.

And it matches a 970 or 980 in many circumstances. 780ti has had good longevity, its just the VRAM limit, which you can solve by turning down textures.

Good point. It held up very well against the next gen which is why I didn't upgrade.

They modded the BIOS on a 550ti and changed the name to 1050. The 550ti is a Kepler generation GPU and at least 6 years old. Performance is lower than any new Pascal cards except the 1030 with DDR4.

Basically you got the equivalent of integrated graphics.

Evga had 6gb 780Tis I believe.
