Hi guys,

I just started folding now that I got a sufficient setup to deal with it while gaming. I have both the 32-bit and GPU client (For ATI). I have two problems, but one that I am not sure if it is a problem since I use Windows 7 on these clients. First, on the 32-bit, is with the display. I have the 32-bit client on my HP lappy with XP as well, which displays the protein as a static 3D model that is manuverable at viewing angles. Compared to my Windows 7 build, it looks like the jpg file that can be downloaded from below which has little manuverablility in viewing and just keeps refreshing itself as a model with little detail. I don't know if is supposed to look like this however I dunno compared to my lappy.

The Last issue is another viewer problem with the GPU client, the viewer keeps crashing when I try to disply it even when I pause.

Little help?

I find that hard to believe on my rig since this is done on an i7 920.

Don't bother using the viewer, it sucks performance and lowers ppd.

Thanks for letting me know, but that only happens with the GPU client. Could it be a driver problem?

Personally I think it's a client install issue. My CPU client did the same thing until I reinstalled it and now it works fine.

Yeah, it crashes because my CPU is running @100% that is why it is crashing. But it also crashes on my 3800+ also. So it just might be crappy. I wouldn't worry about it, there is no point for it.

Honestly, the client you are using is bad in general, we can either set up a single SMP client on your quadcore, or we can get fun and set up four SMP clients each with their own specific core. I'd set you up with a GPU based folding client, but honestly its not worth it, ATI is the pits for folding.

Edit: Before I get flamed by fanboys, folding on the ATI wouldn't be worth it compared to the points you'd make folding on a CPU core in its place.

When you bring up the viewer no matter what you are using as the client either cpu or gpu, the viewer throws a load on the cpu.

your I7 will annihilate work units. Go with SMP-mpich to get the most out of your set-up. Always chose console over system tray.
