um last i checked gpu boost isn't a power saving feature, it uses more power since it overclocks the gpu.

If Nvidia & AMD want to designate a new or separate name for dynamic voltage control that's fine.

Hmmmmm...so presumably a few frames better would be the result for the AMD cards? Is that what you're saying? If they are better drivers, then it makes a difference.
That's what AMD stated according to anand, that they've have better performance with newer drivers.
Considering on some benches Fury is only 2 FPS behind, that would give quite a (perceived) difference in the end.

prices are subjective and vary by region. but here is something that stays consistent, average power draw during gaming,
GTX 980: 156W
390X: 344W


that's pretty darn awful if you decide to go CF. during a long gaming session 400W of extra power is going to turn your room into a sauna on a summer day. i know this because i was once a not-so-proud owner of a pair of GTX 480. and never mind the few extra dollars a month on the energy bill. AMD can't possibly charge the same price for a 390X.

back on topic, this stuff is pretty much pointless. we need actual games to see which cards are better. no one buys these cards to run half ass demos on beta drivers

Now, 43W (total system) difference is definitely noticeable, but drastically different from weird numbers you've posted.

as has been speculated in other threads we're gunna see two situations:

DX12 titles that use Async compute: AMD will get an advantage. they were slower to begin with, so they may get pushed up 1-2 places on the charts for any specific card.

DX12 titles that do not use AC: due to DX11 being single threaded, we may see 'upto' 20% gains in these titles due to removing CPU bottlenecks. this will be most noticeable with weaker CPU's, which so far none of these reviews are using.
