Fake Arctic Silver 5?

Hey guys,
I just purchased some Arctic Silver 5 from Ebay (I thought all AS was the same). However, the product came in a retail package from Thermaltake and has part number of RS2150. However, the syringe looks just like the one on Arctic Silver's website.

I've googled this part number with Arctic Silver and haven't found any matches yet. So, I'm concerned that I got a fake syringe of AS or a really old batch. Should I be concerned about getting some fake AS, or is AS packaged by different companies? I just want to make sure that I won't hurt my processor by putting this stuff on. I've emailed thermaltake and haven't heard back from them yet.

I'd contact AS about it. To me, it sounds fake, but maybe they had a deal with Tt.

I know for a fact TT make a AS type product. They sell them at radio shack. I dont know if it is the exact same thing, but I bet it is close.

However, if the guy sold you Artic Silver 5 and you got that.... I would be upset

Hey guys,
Thanks for the all replies. This is a really helpful place. I just got off the phone with Artic Silver in CA. The guy actually said that they do sell their product to Radio Shack and they package it as TT. He was 99% sure it was their product, just sold in a different package. This makes me a feel a little better as the syringe that I bought is identical to the one on their website. However, I would have felt more confident had I just received the syringe, instead of it being in another manufacturer's box!

Sorry, the idea of someone low enough to try to counterfeit a tube of THERMAL PASTE is hilarious to me.

This is exactly why I rarely buy used parts/softwares, I'm much happier when I buy it all retail and/or from Newegg.

Fake silver grease is still a problem, and big business. Shortly after the Overclocker’s expose on issue couple of years ago, I received a phone call from the manufacturer of the fake grease in China. They wanted me to stop telling people there was no silver in their grease. When I said “but there is no silver in your grease” the reply was “we know, we want you to stop telling people this.” Amazing…

The 3.5 gram size of AS5 and 2.5 gram size of Ceramique are in our proprietary syringe with a stylized AS on the back of the plunger. Look for it as a guarantee that it is a genuine Arctic Silver product.

I think I bought an offbrand AS tube from compusa before.

Works just as good IMO. If it fills the microscopic valleys of the metal creating better thermal dissipation I'm happy.
