Fake Gpu

hello guys i bought A Gt 740 4Gb gddr5 at least this is what it said on the box anyway i played with it some games and it actually worked fine until i decide to play Gta V .
The problem is it crash after like 2-3 min but the thing is it work on high settings 30-40fps but always crash i tried every solution i could find in the web but none of it work so i tried to check the graphic card by using GPU-Z and it turn up to be fake card using Chipest Gf106 instead of Gk107 anyway should i try flashing the bios and install A Gs 450 bios or what should i do to fix it.
P.S: it does have 4Gb gddr5 vram i checked on the board.

Heck no dont flash it. Return that thing and get your money back and file a fraudulent listing.

Ask for a refund / Return (partial if you want to keep card) Before you Attempt any Bios Flash

I bought it from a store located in my neighborhood it worked fine for 2 weeks with other games and when i tried to get it back he would't beleieve it's fake cuz the seller is too retard cuz he don't understand anything in graphics card so geting it back is not an option here

It's not uncommon. I remember on Newegg a few years ago in their Market Place some company based in China was selling fake GPUs. For that reason I stopped buying from Newegg. They don't police their site very well. Especially the Market Place.

The thing is it's stable in other games like Bf4 and Batman arkham knight nd arkham city nd crysis 2 on very high settings

So flashing the bios is a safe option or not or i just must let it like that??

Unless you flash back to the original card it was intended to be... do not flash it. Even then, I would just return it.

That NVIDIA sticker on the fan is a dead giveaway that it’s fake.

But when i check bios of Gs 450 i can't find 4Gb Gddr5 version and this fake card i bought it does have 4Gb Gddr5 vram so is there anyone expert in editing bios can help me?

It still may not have 4gb gddr5 though. The cards been flashed with some bios so it "thinks" and portrays the 4gb. This is probably why gta5 is crashing its overloading into memory that's not actually physically there :confused:

I checked the board of the graphic card and it does have 4gb varm hynix

Fair enough but finding and flashing a bios to what it truly is, is probably going to be tricky and time consuming plus you only really get one shot. I'd take it back to the store you purchased it. Can you not take it to something like trading standards they would be interested in fraudulent goods I'd imagine

And never buy from that shop again.

Figured this was an ebay thing... sounds like that shop bought a bunch of these cheap to make money and didn't know it was fake...if I was that shop, I'd like to know if I had some fakes and got taken......denial would be a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad sign.

I would of sent the GPU back as soon as I saw the box, you're better off sending it back and get refund and buy a GPU from a genuine retailer.

There is no way it is a GT 740. I don't believe those cards came with DDR5 but DDR3 VRAM. It might be a 1030 though.
