Fallout 3 is fun in first time i played, but then i get overwhelmed with what mods to use and i end up letting it go.

Definately Fallout 3, it's a really good and fun game.
Borderlands was quite fun as well; I played it with a friend in co op. However, I just feel that it is very lacking. There is practically no sense of progression or direction in it, and the "talents" could have been done so much better.

I really enjoy both. As others have said, Fallout 3 is a great single player experience while Borderlands is great for multi-player. I just bought Borderlands two weeks ago though and have been amazed at how fun it is. To me, it seems like Fallout 3 is an RPG with FPS elements while Borderlands is just the opposite being an FPS with RPG elements. So it kind of makes sense why the story is lacking in Borderlands since I've rarely seen an FPS focus on story like an RPG does.

The only times Fallout 3 crashed on me is when BOINC was running. BOINC ties up all the cores so when a request comes out of order, Fallout 3 locks up. Simple solution is to disable BOINC while playing the game.

There's some other bugs too but most are minor.

Both games are great! Best games I've played this year so far. Fallout 3 GOTY edition is a deal, for the price you get a game you can play easily around 75 hours.

I like action so borderlands is my choice. Fallout3 seems to have more gameplay though.
