Yes I get it. What I am saying is that are you manually able to control the fan speed using Global overdrive settings?
I am able to control the fan manually regardless of application, I can do both with MSI or Asus GPUtweaker and with the AMD control center. But the problem is that software controlling tools are getting overridden by the hardcoded fan profile in the bios. As soon the GPU reaches 50C degrees the internal fan profile in the card takes over and ignores any software setting done.

I see. Then try hard wiring the fan as others have said too. And as you said, you can connect a potentiometer and adjust the fan speed when needed.

I guess I will have to do this, summer is ahead and I can't stand hearing the fan going Vroom Vroom each time it goes from 49 to 50 and back to 49 and then up again to 50C degrees.

Have you tried to install some of the older graphics card driver, old like year or two, no crimson driver or relive
version can be AMD Catalyst 15.7.1 which is from 2015 year
I meant to say almost any 15.x.x version of driver

If you have time - try it and tell us result

Damn that looks slick!

i can only guess, but i reckon the fan span at about 30% when on the lowest setting. The fan sounded like it was overclocked when it was on "full blast"

I spent a week with the a similar problem.... flashed the bios twenty times--nothing worked.... so I hard wired it to my fan controller.
