look at the video, the bar attaches to tabs on the plastic, not screw holes.

I thought AMD had that plastic bracket around the cpu area so you shouldent need to mess with anything inless things have changed since i last used AMD.

If anything the cooler should sit in that bracket then you have latches you clip over if i remeber right, I don't see why you need to line it up with the holes.

Would i be guessing right in that you took the plastic bracket of your motherboard?

no problem:D

the link I sent shows that there are two tabs that get added to the cross bar. These metal tabs lock onto the plastic retainer around the CPU. With 939 you would pull the screws to set the cooler, with 4 screws holding the plastic ring in, they went to the tabs again.

ya but the two plastic brackets are different shapes, the old one fits in the screws, this one doesnt.

939: pull 2 screws, mount the bar with the screws through the retainer.

AM2: leave the 4 screws in, and additional tabs get added to the Zalman mounting to fit on the plastic locks on each side.

Just so it helps me to, Is your motherboard a socket AM3? if it is then the next question is, Will a socket 940 heatsink fit a socket AM3 without any mods as such.

then the video starts they show a different bar than was used for 939, its got one tab on it, you pass it through the cooler, then slide the opposite sides clip through the bar.
