Fanless card suggestions?

Hi. I have a Dell Vostro 400 that came stock with a GeForce 8800 GT video card that went bad. The power supply say it's 350 watts. Two years ago I replaced the 8800GT with a 9800GT which is now overheating because the fan sucks. In the middle of doing things my screen goes blank because of the over heating issue. I am not a hardcore gamer and just want a simple video card. What fanless card would fit this computer without issues? Thanks!!!

Alternatively you could perhaps open your case up and blow out all the dust from inside your PC & graphics card with a cheap can of compressed air and a vacuum cleaner. All it costs is a little of your time.

I do this from tine to time, always have, it's always clean, and is spotless presently.

I'd take this one and call it a day. LP cards do work in regular tower cases, of course. Fanless cards are usually meant for HTPCs which are most desirably small form factor - that's why they're low profile.

Thank you, I will consider your choice. I am just tired of fan noise and break downs and overheating. I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 1 GB in a slim tower I rarely use. I also located a spare HIS H465FS512H Radeon HD 4650 512MB I had. This...

I take it that 4650 would work?

Ok I installed the HD 4650 and it's working. I'll see how this one goes and see if there are any overheating issues and report back. Thank you.

For basic tasks the HD4650 should be more than adequate. Perhaps move it to the slim tower and take the HD5450 instead? The 4650 has a bit more horsepower (not a lot), but since you don't game, you shouldn't care about it. I don't remember seeing an actively cooled 5450 (since they dissipate what, maybe 5-10W in 2D usage and maybe 20-25W in 3D load), and that would probably work better for day-to-day usage. Those little screamer fans like the one HIS uses tend to seize up, since they're sleeve bearing fans, and their oil reservoirs are usually both small and leaky...
