I got a rig up and running last night with the 180 day trial of XP Pro 64 bit. I downloaded the 64 bit upgrade and extra content packs for Far Cry. I go to install Far Cry and it stops and says run 64 bit exe. instead of the 32 bit exe. WDF? I tried the compatibility wizard, tried to run patch first. I'm lost here. I never finished Far Cry the first time around (damn format  ) so I figured I would play it through this time in all of it's 64 bit goodness.

The comp. is up to it:

Asus A8N5X
3700+ San Diego
2/512 Crucial Ballistix ddr 500 w/pretty led's
Sapphire X800GTO Fireblade
430w Coolermaster (Hipro) psu
80g Hitachi hdd
64 bit XP
Ati Tool

What do I need/need to do to install Far Cry on to XP Pro 64?

Welcome to the lamest example of forgetfulness in video games. Crytek forgot to add the x64 exe on some discs (mostly the cds, as opposed to the dvds). The only way to get this running is to do this:

1) Install FarCry x86 on a normal installation of Windows x86
2) Take the folder titled "Ubisoft" under x:\program files\ and back it up to something
3) Take that backup and paste a copy of it to x:\program files (x86)\ on your Windows x64 installation
4) Run the FarCry x64 patch
5) Wait a considerably long amount of time for the patch to patch the game
6) Enjoy FarCry x64!

Note, I cannot seem to be able to play online by doing this method. Everytime I try to get online and register my key, FarCry just hangs.

BTW, the x:\ drive refers to the partition where you have Windows installed. Also, this procedure works fine with Vista x64 as well.
