It definitely doesn't require a bog standard Windows install, it runs just fine for me. But we are in a community where re-installing Windows seems like the easier solution compared to just figuring out what is causing the issue. More than likely, something else in the background is causing issues, and that gets removed with the re-install.

My issue was likely oem software from acer. Like I said in a later post it works fine on other machines I have with unclean installs

In my case, it takes about 30 minutes to reformat versus hours of frustration of finding out the cause of the problem.

I then remember them defacating all over said bill a few years later when Sins Of A Solar Empire Rebellion launched with the worst form of DRM possible, limited activations. I also remember them selling impulse (then a good up and coming digital release paltform) to gamestop, who promptly ruined it. And how they used to sell awesome skin packs for windows that changed all the menus with the click of a button, and I remember how awesome the Sins of a solar empire skin was.....

What could have been.....
