:D I'm AARP-eligible.
Ruby Ridge should be taught to ANYONE who supports bigger government. It was a tragedy and they had NO RIGHT to do what they did. My fathers and Uncles experience in the Army and Ruby Ridge changed my whole perspective on government. Also there was a massive shootout in Miami when I was a kid between two Vietnam veterans who were by this time criminals. Bank robbers to be exact. Those two showed the nation the government (FBI, BATF) isn't made up of super men. http://www.policemag.com/channel/pa...0th-anniversary-of-deadly-miami-shootout.aspx

The government knows and fears the population. Which is a good thing. Its also why they are so hell bent on disarming us.

The problem with the Miami shootout was the FBI was trying to do and act exactly as they did on the range, which included picking up brass and not practicing with weak hand firing, Situational and scenario-based response training, to supplement range qualification, was not widespread at the time. When the rounds start flying, tunnel vision and muscle memory kick in. That's why the mantra now is "train as you fight." It would have served those FBI agents well if they had frequently trained as they would fight.

i digress. im hoping FC5 is good, my daughter loved 3 & 4 ;) She wanted Primal, but i decided against it, as it looked like crap to me.
im looking for the Cheapest Copy of Far Cry 4 i can find....id like to get it for her again

For some reasons I found Primal as the most interesting of all FarCrys (1 excluded). The environment and world was very original, and it makes you finish the game.

Really? I skipped it because I figured it was just FC4 warmed over again. Maybe I should just try it.

FC5 looks very good. I skipped over most of the FC games but I will be getting this one. FC1 was the only one I played through and it was fantastic. Of course that was made by a different team though.

It's only the window dressing that's original. With FC3, FC4, and Primal, they literally reused the same map layout. All they did was reskin and change some of the terrain verticality.

FarCry wanna offer sort of an spiritual escape. FC5 gonna be hard to achieve that.

Meanwhile they should totally use Antifa as one of their fractions you can play, that would be so much fun.

i would like one of the game mechanics to become "triggered" where at random times during the scene you can tap a button to right hook an NPC in the face if they say certain words...

That and 9mm sucks.

Pretty much everyone in the industry (manufacturing and training) and who uses them for a living (military / SF) prefers 9x19 over .45. And .40 is rapidly dying.

I prefer 9mm or 10mm depending in application. I currently carry a 9mm as does my wife.

Once you've played FC4, if you try to play FC3 you will punch the monitor due to FC3's lousy map interface. Blood Dragon was fun!!!

well i tested FC3 but due to "too little playtime" i consider it as "not played at all" and yep FC3BD was clearly superior to it and mighty fun :)

In FC2 there are multiple endings (well, sort of), so make sure you do saves at points where you need to make a choice. I did all possible permutations... :D Also, an SSD and/or no page file or RAMDISC (volatile) may help a little with the long loading times, btw ;) You may also try some cheats afterwards ... they are kind of fun sometimes. Infinite ammo, super speeds, no fatigue etc. Imagine grenade and rocket launchers with infinite juice :p

Not sure I agree that adding religious (more like cult actually) tones to the story changes the genre. There are plenty shooters that have cult oriented villains.

Not sure I agree that adding religious (more like cult actually) tones to the story changes the genre. There are plenty shooters that have cult oriented villains.

The villain here is pastor Jerome:
Jeremiah 23:1 – ”Woe to the man who leads my flock astray, says the Lord”, before picking up a gun and leaving his now-decrepit church to (presumably) take on the Seeds.

not religious enough?

There are plenty examples of cults that use the Christian, Muslim, what have you, religions as a hook, but trust me, they aren't actually practicing those religions. If you believe otherwise you may as well be one of their brainwashed "flock".

I also think it was wise of Ubi to show this cult's logo as being something other than the Christian cross to emphasize that point to avoid people thinking they're following the Christian way.

The bottom line is, it doesn't matter how many scriptures you quote. It's more about how you live that makes you Christian, and this clearly isn't the Christian way.

Either way, my point remains. Even if he were a Christian villain, it still doesn't change the genre. I will also add that more often problems arise from the way religions are practiced and interpreted, than because of the religion itself. A lot of people out there aren't really paying close attention to the books their religions are based on.

There are tons of examples throughout history of people whom have taken advantage of religious people by skewing the meaning of their faith, and this game exemplifies that.

The whole point here is WHY use religion in a FP shooter game at all?
What's next? Muslims/Hindus/Buddhists against Christians or whoever next?

Yes, their is a ancient history of hunting faith throughout humankind's existence but this does not grant it's okay to use it in an murderous game.
Frankly this should be taboo for decency reasons alone!

It's more an observation than an insult. What I find escalates these things is people insisting their personal opinions are facts, along with misinterpreting descriptive comments as insults vs mere examples (which is what it was).

Religion, or developer contrived variances of them are commonly used in games because they are obviously trying to make the content more real world. Like it or not religion IS a very big part of the world. To me it's obvious why they use it.

I also don't see why it should be taboo in games since many people throughout the so called civilized world have been persecuted for their beliefs, or even slaughtered by missionaries in the name of "exploration", which is often a term given to what in reality is domination.

It's as simple as this, if you don't like religion, don't go to church. If you don't like religion or cults in games, don't play them. Expecting devs like Ubi to not have a quasi religious background to Assassin's Creed is unrealistic though. Just as unrealistic as it is to expect them to omit it in any of their other games.
