People living in urban centers around the nation have no idea what happens in the rural areas. Even in Nevada (if I remember correctly) the BATF, FBI all stood down from the locals over that ranch thing. It wasn't because they wanted too. It was because they were outmanned, out gunned and honestly some of the guys out their were ex-military......they were also out classed. Being a cop is one thing. Coming up against an Iraqi Veteran redneck with 6 tours under his belt on his home turf is a WHOLE different story.

I misunderstood the premise and assumed it was the "rebel encampment" type thing you were taking issue with, not the lack of a federal response. I agree if any group tried to take a town the fed would be all over it.

That said, it's still more believable than BioShock.

I was just thinking the same thing.....I remember the game lethal enforcers , in the airport scene a bunch of middle Eastern dressed " terrorists" pop up and they have aks and RPGs.... So you blast them...I don't even think that game would fly today.

Doubt it. Taking out terrorists and fanatical devotees is an easy way out. Any publisher could do that easy.
You'd have the nice Muslims helping you as you weed out the bad ones. Simple as that and palatable to the publishers.

would still get the game regardless of what the critics said or the hateful comments coz no one has ever gotten their hands on it & give it a test drive. Being an "outsider" while getting rid of cult-driven rednecks out of the supposedly beautiful country might be a little cliche, but nonetheless should be a good game in terms of visuals, story & decision-making.

I don't know if you can holistically call their latest Far Cry games great visually. Sure they look good while not moving, but being as they are fast paced games, you invariably always wind up seeing the dreaded pixelation of objects as their detail draws in when approaching. Their engine sucks for LOD, and it totally takes you out of immersion.

That said, there was no such problems in Far Cry 4's arena, and I had a lot of fun playing in it.

I just hope Ubisoft is moving away from a huge map divided in sections and the player having to do the same thing over and over and over again in each new section.
All their games of late have been doing that and its the worst.

This seems like it will most likely be like previous Far Cry games. Beat everything on the map, capture the "zones" beat the boss and win. Take "jungle folks" "mercenaries" and whatever other antagonists they used previously and replace them with exaggerated American, doomsday prepping right-wingers who practice a bastardized form of religion. Seems to be about 30 hours of interest.

This is Ubisoft we're talking about. I trust the setting to be pretty twisted like we're used to from Far Cry, which will probably be the only 'interesting' and surprising bit of this game. The rest, been there done that, just reskinned - or just reused assets.

Also keep in mind that even though the previous Far Cry's were in areas that some of the weirdness could conceivably take place, the actual events were super unrealistic. Far Cry has never been about realism, its pure fiction, even the way the drug lords or evil geniuses work and act has no relation to reality, more that of a weird B-movie riddled with plot holes.

Far Cry and good writing were never, EVER married... Not even in 1.

I don't underestimate the crazy people. It's unlikely, but then, people would have said that Waco was impossible before it happened too.

Between waco & ruby ridge, the govt has pushed too hard in these cases and others, its all too easy to label people "crazy" but i recommend looking into those situations a little deeper, you may find those people werent as crazy as you thought. Im not religous ( or a conspiracy theorist), but i do love my freedom, & for that reason i say i can relate to these people, not the religous aspect tho. Even the fed's in charge at waco said they f@cked up. Plus they put that show on in waco while Timothy Macvee watched On in disgust w/ growing fear, & grew angrier with the govt, & we all know where that led.
