Fast 80cc scooter?

Discussion in 'General Nonsense' started by TechnicalFreak, Oct 17, 2008.

  1. Ok, I have seen many "This can go so fast" videos on Youtube lately, kids claiming to have very fast scooters...

Now, let me introduce you all to a build (by either a genious or a complete madman!).

    A little info first:
    Scooter make: Gilera
    Model: Runner
Was earlier 50cc, is now 80cc ported engine etc., selectra ignition, "custom built" CDI box (can make many changes on it, not seen).

    Cylinder: 2Fast4Race 80cc
    Crankshaft: Titanium
    Carburator: GoKart type
    Airbox: GoKart type
Exhaust: Built by builder (Custom, est. cost around 1600US$), only for that specific engine
-not seen on picture and not used at that moment.
    NoS: Yes. But never used.
Maximum RPM reached: 20.000RPM and then the Variator spring "left the engine".
    Speed: 170+ (Km/h).
Torque: Somewhere around 40 on the rearwheel..
    Buildtime: Unknown..
    Graphics/paint job: J-Style (Sweden)
Cost to build/modify engine and parts: ~70.000SEK (somewhere around 7000US$).

Some friends and I made a 750CC motorcycle engine and tranny into a go cart. We were doing about 120MPH in a van and the guy driving blew by us at least 50MPH faster than we were going.

    I woudn't drive it.

No one thinks about upgrading the brakes lol.

  9. It does. But it's empty and has never been used...

  10. Oh, sh't.. sorry, these are upgraded aswell. Galfer disk brakes. He wanted to add ISR Acke components, but they were too expensive (in the end).

This is the fastest scooter over here (neither Finland,Denmark or Norway has anything as good. Norway's team tried to build a 70cc from an AeroX but it failed all the time..)

so your 80cc is the fastes scooter in the town? lol ppl here are using 150cc

  12. Not mine.
    I have a supercharged Buell (a bit faster than a 150cc..).

Oh, and btw, you can actually "buy" a 150cc scooter. Gilera doesn't make 80cc scooters, they make 180cc however. But then where is the fun buying a 150cc scooter? And the 2Fast4Race will run any 180 scooter down any given day (it out accelerates an R1 on its first gear - think about that..)

every thing thats ebove 50cc here is illegaal :(

  15. Well, here aswell. A 50cc scooter/moped are in 2 different classes:
EU 30(25)Km/h without license plate, and EU 45 with license plate.

Some parts of europe they are not restricted and can go at their maximum speed somewhere around 70Km/h. Here if you tamper with the engine etc. and the cops catch you, you'll get your cylinder back with a hole drilled thru it and you have to pay to get the vehicle back.

But then there are people who build them just to race...

I lol when I saw this! why would you put NOS on something and not use it? I'm betting (depending on amount injected) that motor will see many rebuilds.

TBH I don't know, those little motors in those things are built pretty well from what I have seen. Thick cylinder walls, so as long as he put a real solid head gasket, had good rings, crank etc made it might hold up pretty well, especially if the nitro isn't a shot...

Now if it was a 50-100 shot, well I would be waiting for the intake to blow clear off the top.

Eh, well maybe not now that I noticed its a 50cc bored/stroked to 80cc.... Don't know whats left..

Not that big of a deal.... It doesn't top 180mph+, and first gear doesn't do 100mph.... Not really a fair comparison.
