When I go to boot up my PC, after the bios loads my motherboard sometimes doesn't load windows and instead sits at a black screen. Sometimes there an underscore thing on the black screen, but the computer doesn't respond to inputs from the keyboard. If I repeatedly spam the reset button I can eventually get my PC to boot, but this is annoying as hell. If anyone has had this problem with a similar board please let me know. BTW I have the micro atx edition. I have the latest bios 1.90.

(PS: This isn't my PC were talking about, its my brother, I simply copied and pasted his message.) I'm not sure if he actually has the latest bios or not, but when I looked up his motherboard around the time he built it he thinks he flashed the latest update.

Sounds like you could have a dodgy stick of RAM, try one stick at a time and test with HCI memtest and/or intel burntest with AVX extensions.

His specs may help, what OS, and A/V software?

Try for testing:

1. Turn off any OCing he is doing; also, reset the bios to defaults.
2. Run a disk check.
3. Change the data cables on the drives.
4. Try "How to Run a Startup Repair in Windows 7"
5. You may want to try a selective startup to see if any software is causing the problem:
