Favorite memory brand?

Dear all,

There are many memory brands available that sometimes, I am not sure which one to choose. Please share me your thoughts which brand is your favorite and why.

I prefer any brand that has a good price(with no rebate junk) and meets my needs for what I intend to accomplish with it.

+1 here. I don't stick to a brand just because its that brand.

Kingston HyperX ftw OCZ sucks and corsair is fail lately...Gskill is good also

My OCZ Reapers are win Corsair is expensive, GeIL is decent but not great, and right now I use Mushkin RAM (see statement above).

Ive had great luck with G.Skill and Corsair. Prices are fair and reliability has been great.

Always had good luck with my Kingston, both ValuRam and HyperX. I'll use whatever is compatible with my MB and isn't too expensive.

the only problem ive had with ram is the overclocking,maybe im wanting to much out of my ram but if i cant clock it 100 or 200 mhz i consider it junk

Ive always had very good luck with OCZ. I usually go where the best deal is though.

IDK im a mushkin guy usually. but lately they havent been that good for me. same with OCZ for that matter. might try going with G.skill again. though my last kit wast that great either come to think of it. maybe ill go kingston

I currently use Corsair and Kingston. Crucial RAM has given me problems, but they handled the replacement so quickly and effectively that I would go to them again. Super Talent is the only brand that has made me never want to buy their products ever again.

Truth be told, I don't care much about the memory as long as it is error-free and doesn't limit my overclocking. Much less does the specific brand matter. Being a fanboy of any brand in the computer industry won't help you much, as every brand has some winners and some junk. Corsair is among my favorite brands if I had to give you one, and it's the one I'd choose if everything else (price, specs, reviews, heatsinks, etc.) were equal, simply because I've had better results in the long run with Corsair than with other brands.

But frankly, high-performance memory is more a concern for benchmarking than for real world performance, and real world performance is my concern. The difference in applications, games, multimedia, between Cas5 and Cas7, is not worth the typical price difference IMO, not by a long shot. Especially considering how much more benefit you'd get by putting that money toward a faster video card or SSD, etc. So when it comes down to it, as long as the memory is error free and doesn't limit the speed of other components, I couldn't care less who made it.

I've never had a problem with any rebate I've ever turned in. Most come back pretty quickly except for Asus.

Technerd, brand is irrelevant what's important are the IC's. Brand is a matter of preference.

But certain companies are known to use better stuff than others. Alex and Athlon II have had great experiences with Kingston. I haven't. They're probably the worst sticks I've ever owned, 1 MHz over stock and they cause errors. I contacted Kingston about it and they said because at exactly 400MHz they don't error they can't RMA them. Well guess what, every damn board on the face of this planet will deviate +/- 1 mhz.

Anyway, I really like this set of Patriot Vipers I'm using. I can run CAS 7 @ 1600MHz with the NB @ 2600 on a C2 . I'd say that's not bad. I can take them all the way to 1700 with some sloppy timings (8-9-9-26 :shadedshu). And they're made in the US.

Corsair XMS platinum's, also really great. OC nicely at stock votlage.

I'm getting a set of OCZ golds so we'll see how those do.

Other reputable brands, Mushkin, G.Skill. I probably wouldn't buy anything but those 4 brands. I might give Kingston another shot, but there would have to be a seriously smokin deal on them.

My old 6GB set of Kingstons did 1600 6/7/5, I'm sure if I dropped the frequency a bit more it could do 5/5/5.

I sold that kit when I downgraded to AM3 or I'd personally test it.

Thanks. I should've been more specific, CAS 5 on an AMD. But it seems like that kit was cherry picked by G.Skill.

I've heard nothing but great things about them. And I was delighted to see that it said "Made in the U.S.A." .

G.skill and Patriot for me as well. Running DDR2 G.Skills and their support is also very good.
