It seems the recent CPU usage spikes with 531.18 are caused by _NvGSTPlugin.dll (Nvidia Game Session Telemetry Plugin), people on Reddit have been recommending outright deleting it. It is possible to do so without resigning the driver, apparently nothing else breaks?

For your consideration. Thanks a lot for developing NVCleanstall, using this tool nowadays is legit self-defense!

imho all telemetry should be an explicit manual opt in, and there needs to be a sys level pref/control. Then again, MS is just now getting around to rgb (which I don't use anyway, but has taken over the h/w market...rgb ram? rly??) control, so I'm not holding my breath. I try to disable/delete any bloat I can find, but missed this one. I wonder how many other bits of crap I haven't found? (obvious answer: lots)

I'm surprised this wasn't included with GDPR for Euro Countries. I know when I went to install Samsung Magician software in Ireland, it prompted me and asked if I was in the EU, and it installed a non-telemetry based variant. In USA I don't recall getting that prompt.

Maybe Nvidia technically isn't complying with GDPR? Otherwise, we would all be able to get something similar.

opt-in makes it useless for things like crash reports, since they'd get no reports at all from 99% of the userbase who do express installs

An opt-out should be mandatory - i've used games for overclock testing and they've tried reporting the crashes to the developer, i'm sure they'd love 50 reports of GPU driver crashes they have nothing to do with
