Fedback needed: Which HD 3xxx cards support software voltage control?

while researching voltage control on latest ATI cards I found out that a lot of cards do not have ANY software voltage control at all.

If you have a HD 3xxx or 2600 card, please check the configuration of resistor R636/R639.

If it is placed HORIZONTALLY your card can support (limited) voltage changes.
If it is placed VERTICALLY your card can not support any software voltage changes, get the soldering iron out.

For reference here are two pictures:

Please report back your card's manufacturer, model, PCB number (GPU side near the top edge of the PCB usually) in this thread

Mines a HIS HD3850 256mb no.109-B34031-00,the resistor is horizontal.I will post a pic a little later.

I just checked my 2 powercolor 3850 256mb cards and both are horizontal with the part number 109-B34031-00

so I guess it does support it

So do I just need to solder or pen a horizontal line then? What is the use of having them connected vertically, or are the resistors just placed differently?

no you can not just solder or pencil it. much more circuitry is missing

I looked at the high res. pics that w1zzard put in his review...I didnt see it, however that doesnt mean it isnt there.

I looked too! I couldn't find any chips similar to the ones soldered onto the PCB with multiple pins on each side, except maybe to the upper right of the GPUs, but the numbers are obviously different.

HD3870X2 does not have this resistor as the phase controllers are totally different (uPI uP6201 vs. Volterra 1165MF).

Hi, could someone please post a picture of the graphics card as a whole with a circle around the bit we are looking at, I think I have found it, but just want to check the orientation and position, if I am looking in the right place from the right direction, there is a damn lot of circuitry ontop of these cards,

That'd be the first post. R636/R639 is actually one resistor but two different positions it can be in. On my card it was on the end opposite the DVI ports. You'll be looking on the back. It's tricky to find, but just look for the large (relatively) black chip and try to spot those two numbers.

When looking at it, you want the PCI slot to be pointing down, and the DVI ports to be to your right. AFAIK
