A delay a day away from launch is unlikely and if there were a delay at this point, it would be serious and take a lot longer than two-three weeks to sort.

Well, if this comes out to be true. That I cannot order a new 470GTX and get it next week. Than I am going to get me a ATI 5870.
Because, the more news I am hearing about the 470/480GTX the less impressed I am :shadedshu

looks about right, if you've got a $350 budget buy a hd5850 or hope for a hd5870 price drop. Nvidia aren't putting up much of a fight with fermi and only sheep will buy the cards

When there are some real benchmarks and the price/performance is well published, and people realize Physx doesn't amount to much

I know physx doesn't amount to much, but the thing is the cards are at a certain price point. Currently it is rumors about price. But at the price point if the GTX470 is ~10% better it's similar price to performance. But of course all just speculation give it another day and we'll see what's going on.

There will be no price drops on the ATI side the cards are still being sold over MSRP. Retailers might lower the cards but with the pricing of Fermi and the availability rumors i doubt the price will change 1 penny.

but you're speculation indeed that ati drivers are unstable is still FUD

i do not know of anyone who has suffered a grey screen since 10.1. yet i know of at least 2 that have had burned out cards thanks to nvidia.

My argument was not based off just me. The ATi drivers are by far the better ones atm, just look at the performance boosts and general stability compared to the crap nvidia has been spewing out lately. :slap:

indeed, although wasn't fermi availability only realistically expected for May anyway? before then it'll be like whack a mole - the gpu version. except the moles dodge so quickly you can't grab them at all. Same as the first month of the hd5870, and even then it wasn't easy to find.
