FFXIV shows massive incompetence in server stability.

It's 1030: pm EST time and I still can't log in..


So far since release. People have spent hours and hours on end, spamming their characters, to get into the server SE let them join..
So far I have personally spent countless hours, every time, trying to log into the server, with constant 1017 errors and disconnects..

I have written them several support tickets all of which they promptly close, with no explanation and no word of an incoming fix..

The game it's self may be great. But what does it matter when you can't even log in to play it?

I am a huge fan of the series but if SE thinks I am paying to play a game that i cannot even log into.
They have another thing coming. This has reached ultimate bullshit proportions imo.
It is beyond pathetic now..

People just refuse to log out and now no one can log in..
I could not be more displeased with how SE has handled their server congestion issues and if they don't fix it. You can dam well rest assured, I will be cancelling my account day 1, when they start to charge..

This has a been a known issue since release. I mean, they announced day one they knew about the problem. They stopped allowing people to purchase the game and are doing a TON of maintenance tomorrow to help alleviate these issues. You should really take the time to read about these things before making a rant on a forum.

well tomorrow they are bringing the world down to add servers and shit. Maybe things will be better. Better be as they will be offline from 5pm to 3am PST.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to play. I've only managed to get to L21 since head-start because I've spent most of my time playing the game called FF:Loginthistimemaybenot.

They've already stated they are compensating with free game time.

Everybody is complaining about the logins. Squareenix has killed purchases, they've already released statements saying things will get better soon, and the issue has been well documented by the gaming media (let alone angry youtubers)....


If you want Squareenix to make better games stop buying their crap. I loved FF7 and 9. I played 13, and haven't been back since. Squareenix knows people just open their wallets when you say the name FF. If people cared about their quality, rather than the name, we wouldn't need 3 FF13 games or A Realm Reborn. They'd make good games, with pretty cut scenes. This pile of androgynous protagonists, amalgamated crap of mechanics, and visuals before gameplay could finally stop. Cripes, they're releasing FF10 remastered in HD.

I think the only reason FF7 isn't already an HD remake (despite the huge cash flow that would generate) is the relatively poor nature of how some of its design elements hold up. How FF hasn't been allowed to sit on the sidelines for a few years is beyond me. Squareenix could make huge money off of some of its other IP, while having people willing to sell their firstborn, if there were five years between releases.

Besides the server issues this game is amazing. Best MMO I've played so far and when Im in game it works flawlessly.

Can't say enough good things about it. Once they solve the server capacity issues I think this game will be damn near perfect.

Man I wish I were close to 50. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but leveling is kinda slow now.

Since hitting L20 I've been doing my story quests, guildleves and dungeons exclusively. but it seems kinda slow at this point. I'm just a hair away from L22.

I really want a mount so I hope that option opens up very soon.

Its a completely different game. I played the 1.0 version back at its release and I was in the beta too but that game was boring and it just sucked.

This one is awesome.

This is the most fun I've had in an MMO since vanilla WoW. Just got my guy to level 30 and have got my first job class as a Dragoon, I've also been playing with 2 mates from WoW, a Gladiator and an Arcanist the dungeons are freaking awesome (Maybe the nostalgia from all FF games makes me biased). Another 4ish hours til servers are back up hopefully without that blasted 1017 nightmare class boss this time.

Call me weird but the feeling of being stopped by that damn error made me want to play more since when I actually did get pass the login screen I felt a heavenly sensation in my pants. Also I was able to play through 4-5 different dungeons if I recall correctly at around level 15-23.

Make a topic about it on their forums and you will likely just get banned for it..

Pretty lame you guys think that a 500 person chat que, that kicks you after you wait for 3 hours is acceptable.
That a phone line support, that goes STRAIGHT to a busy signal, is acceptable.
That them not telling anyone shit, until they were almost ready to fix it, is acceptable..

I know it's not exactly a fix, but at least Squareenix is owning up to their mistake.


Here's to the hope that this is the last substantial issue. Maybe FF14 will finally teach them a lesson. I don't see it happening, but getting the news that Squareenix screwed up on planning for nearly every release in the last two decades is getting mighty old. Anyone else pining for the days when the JRPG was less complicated, but didn't disappoint?

You are not the only one who is going through these issues, however you are easily the most butthurt that I've seen. It's a game. Most games, especially MMOs have issues at launch. You'd think you would have learned by now.

Actually yesterday was like the first day I was able to log into the game without hours and hours of spamming to error codes.

All my friends from Durandal totally passed me because I couldn't even play..

I bought the game TWICE even..
Just so I could get EA.. And I didn't even get my EA..
I deserve a refund for the EA purchase..
But they won't do that..

Ugh. It's very aggravating. More aggravating that I haven't had a single response on my square enix tickets, that are weeks old.. Still.

No sense carrying this on though..
I can see people are happy paying for services rendered, even though a lot of us, got no service rendered..

Well happy wouldn't be the word I'd use. lol

I was able to play a lot because I was forced to join a EU server and with the time difference I was able to log in and play almost every time I tried. I only had a few times that I had to spam the login button and eventually I was always able to get in.

The thing that really pissed me off was that they closed down the ability to join servers during the headstart. I started playing on the 29th and wasn't able to join a single NA server because they were all locked up. This meant I couldn't join the server with my guild and I was literally forced to join EU if I wanted to play.

Now I'm so far along with a couple characters on the EU server that i don't want to start over on NA servers.

Did you hit cap yet? Are you enjoying being gear checked by others for even basic things like primal fights and then told you have to leave?
How about joining a dungeon and the tank says 'Any first timers?' to which the three of you say 'yes' and then he exists the dungeon consequently forcing the rest of you to leave, reque and wait for another unknown amount of time?

End game is awful; it's bits and pieces of soft(player driven and mechanics driven) gated content that has little do with skill and everything to do with stats.


The server congestion is getting better though. A little tip for players - if you get hit with a que message after trying to log your character in, just keep spamming/repeat it for several minutes. The notice is often wrong and inaccurate. You know you've gotten in because the white cursor will pop up on screen.

No way FF is linear and stat based? This game has ALWAYS been linear and stat based.. I never understood how people liked this junk
