New poster here,

Looking forward to making some contributions to the community but there's a weak spot in my knowledge that I'd appreciate some wisdom on please.

Running a very small media setup and need to share around 8-10TB of footage with clients, could be tens or hundreds of people that I need to share with.

Just wondering if anyone knows the cheapest way to share the files so people of my choosing can access the files at decent speeds with simultaneous connections. Needs to be unlimited bandwidth etc.

I've looked online for SFTB servers etc but the prices for this amount of storage is crazy. I currently have an FTP server but it's slow, idealy I'd like to transfer those files onto the new system whatever that may be.

8-10TB? Not GB, TB? Per client?
I don't think there's an affordable service for that.
If smaller amounts of data, then maybe something like this would work, assuming your upload speed on your internet connection is fast enough and unlimited.

How bout HFS? I used it to send old obscure prawn to my friend a few years back. Although we were using the same ISP back then and the speeds were god-orgasmic fast.

Yes needs to be around 8TB. My internet speed will not allow for decent upload speeds for multiple users.

Edit: I have found this https://www.dropbox.com/business

Seems like a good price and something that will work for us?

Some people have been known to buy another telephone line and have separate internet on it. Maybe you can buy a second telephone like then have that wired for fibre optic and use that as a dedicated line for a server

If it's for clients you don't want the "cheapest" out there as you need to be sure your data is held securely,

Why not look into cheap storage with Google/AWS/Azure? this way it's not using your personal bandwidth when they access he content.

Dropbox should be reliable enough, but keep in mind that you pay per user. If you have "several hundreds" of users, that'll still not be cheap.

I currently have an FTP server but it's slow, idealy I'd like to transfer those files onto the new system whatever that may be.

The reality is that any thing you use will be relatively slow for the amount of data you are talking about. The limiting factor will likely be the internet connection of the person connecting and accessing the data.

Even if you get a server with a dedicated 1Gbps connection, that's only going to support 10 users with 100Mbps internet connections. And even still, transferring even 100GB over 100Mbps is going to take hours. And the more users that connect, the more that 1Gbps connection will get divided. So if you have 100 users connected, each is only going to get 10Mbps so that 100GB is now going to take about 1 day to download from the server.

It almost sounds like you're trying to share raw footage over the internet, which isn't something that you should be doing, for obvious reasons.
