Ive been trying to get another 8800GTS for a while. I even checked into a few 2nd hand junk hardware stores but all they have are the older 320mb ones. Ebuyer I know are still selling a few but the price aint right. so i gotta think about that.

Maybe you should get a 780a and get another 8800GTS some time?

thats not a bad idea, its just that the gains from SLI are not that significant. What kind of boost can he expect with 2 cards? 30% or so?

hint: ebay. In the US they are around $100 a piece on ebay, may be even less now. If you go used it should be under $100. Though i dont know about UK prices but if they are higher may be worth buying from a US vendor.

So can you tell me how much of performance boost one can get by going to 2 cards from 1?

Probably 50-70% easily. Just look at the 9800GX2, HD 4870X2 and GTX 295. They are miles ahaid of their single GPU counterparts.

Didnt know it hadnt gotten that much better, i gotta pay more attention to this stuff, i just havent considered dual GPU setups for quite some time. When i was building my first rig and thought about SLI but people talked me out of it, it was looked on as a gimmick to help companies sell more cards. But i guess things are different now.

Yea in 2007 I would've talked anyone out of dual GPU setups.. But now they are VERY efficient and getting better with each driver update!
