You don't want either cooler if pushing past 1.35v with a phenom II quad. Might as well stay on stock cooling. If you are afraid of the rare consequences to happen to you like your friend, get a few zip ties and brace it at the top of your case.

AMD + Intel are almost identical in gaming. Yes AMD does have some higher FPS than Intel does, but that's for the most part Intel wins by like 10%.

If you have the money, go ahead and buy an Intel Processor (i7 six core) is a beast.

If you are on a budget --get the AMD 970 Black Edition because if your lucky you can unlock six cores instead of 4 and it's performance is amazing. (I own a 965 BE @ 3.6GHZ and never let's me down. I do a lot of video editing,surfing, and video gaming and I can do just about anything very very fast and with ease. My desktop literaly loads at like 5 seconds and it has a lot of programs starting up once i reach my desktop

Bottom Line:

If you have money: Intel
Budget: AMD

meh I looked at it its 70 bucks I CAN speed that but I don't really NEED IT I just want something that will keep it from melting untill I can get the cash todo a proper rebuild
all the comments in the newegg page for the ZZ say it will keep a 125wat BE under 55c

yes, i agree so far Intel wins just about 10%, i guess 10% wont be much to recognize on normal or daily use, it only appears on benchmark

You would have to find a HDZ970FBK4DGR PII 970 to MAYBE unlock to 6 cores, Denab Dies dont unlock but if you can find the RARE zosma die then you might be in luck

For my 940 I only have to add 1.40 volts for 3.4 to be stable. Here is a cooler I found its a tower cooler but small.

what are you're temps and in what environment
from what I read its only a 2 pipe cooler

I will have to drop my over clock to 3.4 and I will do some testing. I believe my room temp is 20c its cold in Colorado now. I have the Corsair H50 I use to have the Xigmatek Dark Knight it did well. I have the stock cooler for the 940 still so I can do some testing with it if you would like me too.

Edit: My Phenom II 940 is lapped and my case does have pretty good cooling.
