Followed some suggestions and turned off a few "features" and picture is nice and clear. 32 inches def takes some getting used to but OW looks damn nice at 1440p on ultra settings @ 90-100 fps. Going to be testing other games to adjust settings to get optimal fps

I am kinda in the 1440p club, since my phone has 2560x1440 screen. :D

With PC, I will go straight from 1080p to 4K.

I personally skipped 1080p and went from 1680x1050 straight to 1440p. :D

OP, what distance are you looking at that huge monitor from? My main reason for upgrade, apart from the better colors, was the bigger PPI, so I bought a 25" one.

About 3 feet, my choices were limited since I got it 2nd hand but the viewing distance is perfect. Anything bigger and I would need a new desk setup

Probably 16:9 aspect ratio. Also resolution, i`m thinking more and more to switch from my 1440p 144Hz to a 1080p 144Hz monitor, at the same IQ settings framerates would be about 50% higher.

32" is a bit too large for 1440p as it results in a PPI of just 92. For folks with normal vision can identify individual pixels when PPI is < 96 or so. Typical resolution at 1440p is about 109. The 1440p IPS gaming monitors that get all the attention are made by AU Optonics... this Panel is made by BOE and I don't know much about them. Advertised specs on input lag and response time are uselss (results are always significantly higher when tested bu tftcentral) but was unable to find and actual test data.

TFTcentral hasn't reviewed any of the VG series. No reviews on any of the "go to" review sites, the ones I found weren't what one would call in depth.

https://www.monitornerds.com/asus-va32aq-review-midrange-1440p-va-monitor-for-mixed-use/

Grabbing it at $250 CA, you can consider the money well spent

Why would you downgrade?

Generally for a superior gaming experience.

-His card is a GTX 980 which if memory serves, can not deliver the bandwidth for 144 Hz (DP1.2)
-Panel options limited at 3440

When my son graduated from college, he bought a 1440p monitor, his college roommate a 3440 ... I played Witcher 3 on the 3440 for about 2 hours and was initially impressed by the sense of immersion the curved wide screen gave. But then I went back and played it in on my son's 165 Hz Acer XB271HU and it was like getting hit with a brick. The brightness, color and contrast was a slap in the face, no ghosting.... the curved screen by comparison felt flat and lifeless.... sorta like when a little bit of sun or direct light hits the monitor screen

That's what I was thinking. It's like 24" for 1080p. Not that bad, but I prefer PPI over size in cases like this. And I probably end up spending less too.

This monitor goes for $400 plus in Canada, buy and sell sites don't really allow for all the checkboxes to be ticked off when purchasing.

Considering I came from a 24" 1080p I don't find anything wrong with the 32" size

Well, if you had the same PPI and you were happy with it, I guess it was a good decision. :toast:

PPI is just fine for me, im not a pro gamer, just casual gaming and movie watching here and there. Anything new i was looking at was $500 or more for 27" 144hz so I think the trade offs were worth it and came out with a good deal and monitor

@AlienIsGOD you game at 90-100 fps on 60hz? you don't notice any screen tearing? that ruins the immersion for me, you might want to turn on vsync or cap frame rate with rivatuner at 59 fps

I don't notice any tearing with it on, I only play a few games tho lol. But it does work as advertised... Blizzard games were the worst offenders before and now they run great

Why would you downgrade?

Sorry for the late reply. For streaming purposes. You are forced to scale down to 1720x720 which isnt the most ideal.
My GPU is a Strix 1080TI btw, not a 980TI, I think I seen someone else say that.

Dont get me wrong, the Predator X34 is amazing. Jaw dropping. I just want a faster refresh at a different ratio for streaming. I still plan on having the X34 mounted above the new one for productivity reasons. Hard to beat it for video editing

bought this off a buy and sell and am very happy :Dhttps://www.asus.com/ca-en/Monitors/VA32AQ/

only 60HZ though, but for $250 CAD i think it was a good deal :D Anyone else own this monitor?
Super nice looking monitor. I personally have a quad mount positioning my asus 28" 1440p panel, my cheapo 28" ~350$ acer 4k panel (4k yes but it looks downright terrible, at least the factory color settings suck) a 27" dell 1080p panel (nothing special) and right now an 18 inch NEC (I think) 1650x1080.

The X34 is a killer monitor, however I found it didn't play well with most of the games I played (shadow of war flickered, csgo's ui was all trash) but for productivity the 21:9 ratio is awesome especially in development and the games that worked well at thaf resolution were butter smooth with the GSYNC.

Bought Crossover 2763AMG 1440p 60Hz in early 2014. At that time there was no high refresh rate 1440p monitor except some Korean brand but it don't sold in my country anyways. 3 years later I really want to try high refresh rate but 240Hz only available with 1080p and I don't want to go step backward. So the only logical choice is once again 1440p but this time 144Hz...
