I just recently switched to 11.9 for rage, and started having issues with my 6970's. I think I got all the bugs cleared up, but Firefox 7 has been freezing up all of the sudden after watching flash videos. It doesn't do it 100% of the time, and it's not using a ton of memory or anything.

I actually tried to switch back to 11.8, but it didn't solve the problem which is odd. I'm now going to try 11.10? but no clue what the real problem is. I've had issues with flash causing problems and lockups with bitcoin mining software before, but I think that's unrelated.

I'm running at stock clocks of 880/1375 on stock voltage right now.

Anyone having problems with these cards and firefox 7? Flash doesn't seem to lock up in chrome at all, only ff...

*edit: problem solved. not sure what fixed it, but i've run updates on everything since I was having problems and it stopped. thanks.

I don't have that card nor Firefox 7 (I have FF 10 Alpha) but I would try to disable Hardware acceleration if it's enabled, it's know to cause problems in some systems, it can work in one computer and fail in another even if they have the same vid card and drivers...

Update your java and remove the old versions, same for flash, uninstall it and then reinstall it, and if that fails disable hardware acceleration for firefox and flash.

I disabled hardware acceleration when I was running bitcoin software, but in this case I want to keep hardware acceleration on. What's the point of having high end hardware if you can't use it for what it's made for, you know?

I will see if that fixes the issue, but I would love to know a way to figure out what is causing it without disabling hardware acceleration. Things were working fine with no lockups before I upgraded to FF7 now that I think of it. Maybe it's just an issue with this version?

I would try to do a clean installation of Firefox or disabling extensions if you have and see if it works fine with HW acc enabled. Maybe is a corrupted profile , extension fault or something. Unless you have many important things out there.

I don't think Flash would be the culprit because in FF Flash runs in a separate process (plugin container) so if Flash crash or hangs the entire browser shouldn't freeze.

it was flash problem with hardware acceleration i bet... happen to me as well.. while using flash 11..
anyway looks like 6xxx card have problem with dxva while using windows xp.... something like stuck a while and continue playing the dxva video........

"If Firefox hangs attempting to load a site with Java or Flash, or an Adobe PDF file, it's likely a problem with the associated plugin."

I would go back to a previous version man or do what i did and go over to chrome although it happens occasionally not as frequent as FF
