hey,
Last night I was bored and started to think should i get a macbook/laptop or get another desktop, I would love to get both but at the mean time the most viable option is a desktop, and I might as well make it last :D Anyways heres a short list of components I got so far. My major concern is the PSU i had one blow up on me and Im pretty sure another one on the way, Whats the best psu for under 100£ good quality and will be able to run atleast 12 hours a day idle or even gaming :p without blowing up within a year. The CM case and psu is just there for cheapness haha. I want to got with a crossfire mobo as the 4850 cards are awesome and cheap so If i want i could always get another then itll make the system last a bit more. Ill add a quad core and ill maybe buy a better cooling fan and overclock it when I have a chance. So tell me what you think! Now im going to research monitors for this build, cheers :toast:

Get a Corsair 400-550w psu, I heard cooler master psu's suck.. I likey everything else tho :toast: I think you should get a 19'' wide personally. I like mine and my 4850 handles everything on it perfectly.

Yup, that should do crossfire 4850's fine.

I would go with this case
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143854
Make sure you get two 120mm fans with it if you do!

Nice case, I like the whole antec series and whynot start with this one :D I just hope everything fits :p Im going to look over a few more things like ram, I think the mobo is great, then I will buy this no more putting it off to the next day haha
Should i get 4 gigs of ram or just 2 gigs of fast ram like the one like crucial ballistix, its been a long time since i looked at things such as ram are there other models that are quicker?

EDIT: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114945# 520 hx £67
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132563 520 VX £57

Do these both support crossfire I know the hx supports SLI. and its modular too

Thanks for the help!

I think i have you on my xfire btw xD

Yea I think I remember playing CoD4 with you awile ago. Those modulars are good but the watts are a little low for crossfire.. The 550w might be better. I would go with 4gb of ram if you can tho.

I'd hate to buy a board that there's a 50/50 shot that you'll be happy with it. Is there an etailer in Ireland that sells DFI? You may be happier with a DFI p35 or p45 board.

If you go with the corsair 550 you might as well get the corsair 620hx modular psu. Its not that much more cash.

Im just using this site to buy stuff from england, itll have to do for now
http://www.ebuyer.com/search?q=dfi+p45&x=0&y=0 there are two dfi boards there, mobo is a bitch to get right haha I know its alot of ask for a stable board that could overclock good and is cheap hehe

Well that would be £85 gbp, if i was to get that It would have to be able to power two 4850 without a doubt. I would be stretching the budget but even then itll be worth it as i had a psu fail on me b4 its not pretty

Thanks for your help, ill try to return the coolermaster extreme 650 tomorrow and get my 60 pounds back!

Those little Coolermaster cases are quite nice to work with, but too small for a good gaming rig.

The Antec 300 is a good choice, but also look at the Coolermaster CM590.
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/147113

Edit: Maybe not. Why is this case so expensive through these guys? It costs the same as the Antec 300 my side of the world.

id see if you can get an ocz gamexstream 700w heir crazy cheap over hear well within your budget but im unsure if its around the same price over the pond though i can tell you they are amazing PSU's and will power your cards no problem. as for ram dude 4GB while its cheap i meanddr2 4GB kits are something crazy cheap and you can get decent speeds out of them..for example my mushkin 4GB kits (i have 2) mushkin tests above their stock speed to ensure OC headroom mine are 800mhz and can do 1066 id deff reccomend 4gb it will last you longer than 2gband the gaming and desktop experiance in performance will be totally noticable others here going from 2-4 will tell you their is no such thing as too much ram...and ontop of that if you get 4GB you can disable the pagefile as youll have enouh ram to do it so your system doesnt slow down. and with the pagefile disabled your system will run amazing.

PSUs that come with cases are in bad quality. Get a 520HX and if you're gonna game on vista get 2 x 2 GB kits instead.
