Fixing to lap CPU. Last minute advice please.

Ok, I am not getting good thermal conductivity here, nor am I getting good spread of my Antec Silver 5, so I am assuming that the CPU is concave (Already lapped the cooler).

The main that that I DONT want is static discharge killing my CPU, how can I avoid this? I will be standing on an anti static bag during the lapping process.
