flashing a probably bricked GPU

Dear all,

I got a GTX1070 card which has apparently BIOS issue. I wanted to flash the original firmware on it.
I'm using a PC which has an IGP. I installed the nVidia card into the PCI-E slot.
If I try to set PGE only in the BIOS and I start the PC with the screen connected via DP at the 1070 card it doesn't show me anything.
If I set the BIOS to AUTO or IGP I can boot up correctly, when the screen is connected via DP to the mainboard DP output.
Once in Win10 the 1070 card isn't recognized in the device manager nor in Afterburner.
I tried to use nvflash, but of course it doesn't find the card.
Do you know what else I can try or which link I can try to follow?
I already tried to google it, but I didn't found an even possible answer to it, looks like nobody had ever this issue

mmhhh you are trying to flash it under win 10 or did you tried bootdrive (DOS)

the strange point was, my 6950 got recognized in the device manager (WDMI) and shown on GPU-Z but with blank or incorrect specs, while yours is not even showing up

probably @Law-II can help, he did help me quit a lot back in the day when i "repaired" that 6950 that had a BIOS issue

ok now, I could flash it, but something is till not working. the problem was that the card somehow wasn't connected well to the pci-e socket.

now I am not able to boot when connected directly to the card via DP. but when I choose IGP in the BIOS and I connect the DP cable directly to the mainboard output I am able to boot up directly to Win10, but the card isn't recoginzed anymore in the device manager.

it stuck by the Lenovo logo. It starts with the loading circle and then it stops and doesn't get through.

the problem is I can't find the lastest nvflash version for dos

Tho You have not Said as much and no criticism if it ( was this Card Flashed from the Original Bios to another for Improved Crypto Mining).

If you Bought this Card from Some one as "USED" they may have Modded the Bios >>> had Problems because they used another Card Bios and there is some Mismatch So They then could not sort this out themselves and Decided to off load this problem onto the S/H Market

What are your complete system specs?

no no, I was aware and we agreed that I will try to flash it correctly, but it doesn't look like to be so easy to do if I won't be able I will send him the card back, so no problem on that end

If I wont find help on this part of the forum I will try the side you suggested Thank you!

@eidairaman1 I partly payed it.. from a guy.. . like told to dorsetknob, if I am able to bring it back to a good life its great otherwise he will get it back.

10 series cards don't bios mod so it is doubtful there was a bios issue from mining. Probably just a bad card.

Pass it back if you don't know mate it's too far gone , he meant remove its cooler and stick it in an oven for 15 @200°c but with surface mount components it can go very very wrong ie they can fall off.
Its a tense affair best watched through the door the whole time that may work or might not.
If you have tried the cards original bios and tried force flashing it to no effect it's more likely dead , since newer cards have not been put together bad, few die from dry solder these day's imho.

Any signs of damage? Water or smoke?

I have not force flashed an Nvidia card in a while but that would be your best bet ,i agree with cdawall that Nvidia bio's cannot be modded effectively it's still possible to try and someone might have (to break it)but , last time I looked it up for gtx 1060s i found id need to buy a chip flasher to clip onto the bios chip since Nvflash is uncooperative if it doesn't like the id(or none present i assume).
It was to tune better a mining rig i built for a friend , and I have not bought one yet.

Seams to me it either just died or was flashed badly or with a bad (for it) bios.
If it were amd i know how to force flash a dead card to have a chance but Nvidias locked there's better (well amd do too now).

Anyone got a sure fire way to force flash Nvidia cards bar a clip based flashing tool???
