I just want to know, from others, if there is anyone here who has any experience with either Flight Simulator X or X-plane 10 (or both) - which one is the better?

My simulator setup (for warplanes) is:
CH- Fighterstick
CH- Throttle pro
CH- Pro Pedals

For ordinary planes:
CH- Eclipse yoke and throttle quadrant

I bought all of them second hand, had to repair/change the USB cable on the Eclipse yoke, but now I want a good flight sim to try them out on. Most people have said "get X-Plane", is that better than FSX or just as good?

I would recommend FSX!! There are hundreds and hundreds of awesome addons available.

X-Plane still needs work, and the virtual cockpit leaves a lot to be desired.

It all depends on what type of flying to want to pursue and are addons important, like airports, planes, scenery, etc?

You could also look at FlightGear. http://www.flightgear.org/

Can't say how good it is compared to the others, as my knowledge of flight sims are almost zero.

But it's free, so no loss in giving it a try.

X-Plane is slightly more realistic, from what I remember, but FSX has way more mods and add-ons.

I got addicted to playing the AirHauler add-on for a good long while. There is a cheaper version of Airhauler for X-Plane too, but since I prefer FSX I bought the FSX version.
