ASUS was the first AIC partner to announce that due to increased costs in procuring supplies and components for PC component manufacture, it would be increasing prices on its motherboards and graphics cards. That announcement from ASUS seems to have opened the floodgates on other manufacturers, as now both EVGA and ZOTAC have increased pricing for their graphics cards - specifically for NVIDIA's RTX 30-series.

EVGA took a similar approach to ASUS, and announced via its website the changes in pricing and their effective date - January 11th. The company's announcement (which you can read in full after the break) sees pricing increase at around $70 across the board of already-launched NVIDIA RTX 30-series graphics cards. The company will still honor users in the queue system for a new graphics card with the previous pricing structure, should their orders complete through April 16th.

As for ZOTAC, the company seemingly decided to silently hike their RTX 30-series pricing with no announcement to users, and the increase are much more substantial on ZOTAC's side. The company originally had some of the lowest prices for custom cards on the RTX 30-series family, but has increased its pricing silently twice already since December. The price hikes that ZOTAC enforced are as follows:

ZOTAC Pricing on December 18th; January 3rd; January 13th
  • from $440 to $500 and now $530 for an RTX 3060 Ti
  • from $540 to $600 and now $640 for an RTX 3070
  • from $750 to $780 and now $840 for an RTX 3080
  • from $1550 to $1580 and now $1900 for an RTX 3090

I'd say that those ZOTAC price hikes - particularly for the RTX 3090) are egregiously high. A $400 expense increase in manufacturing components and tariffs for the RTX 3090? Sure.

Here is EVGA's full post on its website regarding the price increases:

Due to ongoing events, EVGA has made price adjustments on the GeForce RTX 30 Series products. This change was necessary due to several factors and will be effective January 11, 2021. EVGA has worked to reduce and minimize these costs as much as possible. For those who are currently in the EVGA.com Notify Queue system or Step-Up Queue, EVGA will honor the original MSRP pricing through April 16th, 2021 if your purchase position is processed before this date.

So if Asus didn't open their mouth, other competitors wouldn't have followed it. Fking hate this aggressive "exploit or be exploited" capitalism. No wonder why pure greed will cause humanity to annihilate itself, instead of working together in achieving greater things as one species, before we even colonize other planets. Obviously, I'm not asking stuff to be free, but prices are already out of reach for most people.

No, they would have all increased their prices individually anyway. Now we know a lot of these cards go to miners again so there is no reason for them not to profit from that.

Those adoption rates for RT are going to wow everyone two years from now :)

Please, let it get more nasty so people finally get the message - efficiency matters and less is quite likely more going forward.

checked pricing on TaoBao and JD.com just then.
cheapest 36ti is Colorful iGame GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Ultra for 3.8k CNY for JD VIP to pre-order (and with 42580 waiting, good luck). most others are at >5k CNY.
on TaoBao is straight ripoffs at >5.2k CNY.
so nah, its pretty terrible there too compared to """""MSRP""""", even factoring GST and delivery on US side which Chinese sites don't have.

Guess AIB's are feed up with all those resellers making a pretty penny. Why leave all that money on the table instead of pocketing it yourself?

And the MSRP for the RTX 3060 will be supposedly 329,99$...sure.

this is pretty much expected. asus is one of the most well known brand in DIY pc market. some even consider them at the top right for a few years now. when asus decided to increase the price others will follow instead of competing for better price. there is no such thing as "asus raise their price but you could always look one of our product as an alternative".

in a any case it is good that i decided to follow my gut last month to snag one of the 3060Ti instead of keep on waiting 3060 like my original plan. and i did it fully knowing that there is high probability for nvidia to put 12GB on 3060. even if i did wait due to how board partner officially increasing their price this year 3060 12GB might end up costing the same or even more as the price i got my 3060Ti.

Took a look at EVGA prices for EU and they don't appear to have changed but i wouldn't put my hopes high , knowing how regardless of the situation EVGA applies a +20-30 buck for EU prices compared to US , there is no doubt that EU prices will skyrocket aswell ,more likely than not EU prices just haven't been updated yet . You are most certainly looking at ( 20% VAT ) 1028Eur for an FTW3 Ultra now with the new prices .

It seems only in the USA can you get away with "egregious" pricing and not be accused of price gouging.

the solution :
- wait 4 years
- buy a 5050Ti
- buy Cyberpunk - Valhalla during steam winter sales 2024-2025
- play in 4k@60High

total cost now = 950$
total cost in 4years = 200$
total cost saving of the operation = 750$

I'd say that those ZOTAC price hikes - particularly for the RTX 3090) are egregiously high. A $400 expense increase in manufacturing components and tariffs for the RTX 3090? Sure.
The price increase is no worse than what ASUS posted. In fact, the ROG models for ASUS are priced even higher, one even exceeds $2k. While I understand your stance on the price Zotac has posted, you can't be irritated with their pricing for the 3090 if you're not irritated with the other manufacturers and their large price jumps on similar products.

With prices increasing across, soon to be all manufacturers, does that mean that the recent MSRP Nvidia lists for the new 3060 is just a lie to put them in good graces with the public so folks aren't lashing out at them for having a mid-tier card being so expensive, but instead are now lashing out towards the AIB manufacturers?

I won't spend over $600 on a new GPU and that's even pushing it. I put my name on the EVGA waiting list for a couple of the 3070 models back in December, if I don't see an opportunity to snag one for the $520ish, I won't opt for anything less. I want something that's twice the performance of my 980Ti for $600 or less. My 980Ti turns 6 years old in June. The 2080Ti gives you that 2x performance level of my card, but the $1200+ they were going for wasn't happening. I always upgrade when I can get twice the performance of my current setup for a reasonable price. Sadly, the prices right now went from reasonable to just out of reach - for me, that is.

Maybe I'm going to be waiting for the next generation to come out.....maybe then I might get a new GPU that isn't overpriced. Something in the lower-end such as a 4060/4050 or AMD 7600 (or whatever number these guys go with).

The issue here is, once they increase they will never decrease. Once supply outstrip demand, they will still keep those prices up there.
Exactly this. These are now effective prices for cards of this class/level/tier, call it whatever you like. Next year or whenever next generation arrives, these prices are going to remain the case.
The hell with them all, I'm getting an XSX as soon as it's back in stock instead of upgrading my 1660.

Just stop buying cards and other overpriced components. Also and preassembled configurations. Then trademarks will got sign to their bankruptcy and will change its minds.

The few available RTX 3080 cards are going for just under $900 if you're lucky.
Almost all stock is gone now, doubt it sold locally, I think some shops got smart and sold the cards to other countries, as the stock of 3090's was gone over night and there was half a dozen cards listed the day before.
Seems like some fresh 3070 stock has arrived, at just under the $600 mark for the more basic cards.

With limited supply, I guess there's enough people to buy even at those inflated prices.

I wanted to buy 3060 but it's not going to happen anytime soon, it seems. I'm feeling a renewed sense of appreciation for my old 970, good enough for a lot of games in the backlog. Glad I stayed with 1080p/1200p @60

They are killing pc gaming, the fake MSRPs were already too high, the 3080 should cost around 500-550.
Better get a console when they become available, Sony and Microsoft don't have fake MSRP, and don't sell their consoles 40% more outside the US for no reason.

Mid range RTX 3060 Ti costing $530???!!! Go F yourself AIBs, Ngreedia and AMD! You're all screaming FU to all the PC gamers that supported you for the last 30 years. I'm out of the DIY market for 2-3 years. I hope this mess corrects itself by then or I'm out of PC gaming after 25 years, this time for good. Thank god I could still easily afford this hobby, but there's no way I'm willing to support these greedy practices ruining DIY PC hobby for the short term profits.
