I thought this article(summery) was interesting. So I decided to put it here for discussion. Feel free to move this if it is in the wrong place mods.

The former AMD chief has written a book that memorializes his bet-the-company decision in 2005 to file an antitrust case against its much larger rival, a volume of roughly 200 pages that comes with heavy doses of David versus Goliath imagery. It’s called “Slingshot,” and subtitled “AMD’s Fight To Free An Industry From The Ruthless Grip Of Intel.”
Please more of the article than just this little quote.

Intel still has a grip today regardless of the out come. AMD doesn't have the market share nor the leverage to balance the playing field much.

My current machine is an AMD. It works well for my needs. The price to get the items I needed were a bit better than a similar Intel setup. If it was the other way around, Intel would have been my box.
