I still think there needs to be a rule on size of signature, like my sig with the picture of speedtest should not be allowed, and the guy who has "do not flash your BIOS in massive red letters in his sig is annoying when scrolling down long posts, a little bit of minimalism in the signature would take this website from 9/10 to 10/10.

Does this not reflect your knowledge more accurately? If so, then job well done, IMO.

Over time, the number W1zzard came up with will definitely need revision but, for now, it's enough.

@W1zzard: i don't think there should be a limited amount of badges because, depending on the subject, there may very well be more users knowledgeable in those sections then the amount of badges that currently exist.

In this rating badge system that shows positive things,
how about funny negative ones to take the edge off negative votes, like:

when i click it highlights me....which is great but say i wanted to search for another member it would be handy to highlight their achievements.

Also i would like to see all the subforums added....the lists are a bloody good ( sometimes funny ) read especially as you feel as if you know people here and realize how happy or upset they might be to see themselves listed or not.

Is anything negative shown in the first place though? Its literally +/- and a number, right?

While im all for humor, i do question if some are appropriate in the first place (crack whore? Really ). If reasons are shown, make them legit...otherwise people will laugh off the negative and continue on being negative IMO. I just dont think adding funny to the negatives will do anything but stoke the fire of anyone who takes these to heart for whatever reason. Of course that is just my opinion.

Badges seem kind of out of place here on TPU. But that may simply just be the case since they've only popped up in the last 24 hour or so and I'm not used to seeing them. I guess I wait and see how it all pans out.

In the mean time you can just get me a badge that says "Guy that knows some stuff, doesn't post enough to be overly helpful." and I'll be content.

I think this change has started the boulder down the slippery slope of Facebookification. Actually, it started with replacing Thanks with Like. I want Thanks back; I want Like and Rate gone. It was a simple system that worked--was positive in nature.

The new badges I find annoying. They distract from meaningful content. WCG and F@H were good because they advertised/honored donors which are both intrinsically good things that lead to more good things.

TL;DR: This new stuff is promoting the "us versus them" mentality that is already destroying the world. Please don't let it destroy TPU too.

Yes, please. I'm not a fan of "Like". Just because I may click "Like" for a post, doesn't mean I necessarily like it. I liked "Thanks" - just a simple way to thank them for a useful post, regardless if I actually like it or not.

As for the rating aspect, I think it looks tacky. You got some goofy + or - box on the right side of posts....if I hadn't been following the updates about it all I wouldn't know what the hell it was for. Just my two cents.

If the rating system sticks around, I hope it doesn't turn into some reddit crap-hole of people just rating posts up and down because they can.

I actually think, if we’re going down this road, that is a good idea. There are whole sections here where if you do rate someone’s post up that there is no badge to apply it to. For instance, here as well as reviews and news.

FTR, I would actually like to see just one plus option to go along with the one minus option when rating a post (not +2 or +3). Then it would go on how many readers found something worthwhile, instead of how worthwhile one reader found something.

And FYI, it looks like T_O is about to hit a really significant major milestone!
