Upon release it will have less cars than Forza 3..
340 apparently. Then afterwards they will be releasing the others bit by bit via DLC (no doubt charging people for it of course) Total amount of tracks+variations is approximately 70 where Forza has approx. 100.
Kazunori Yamauchi is a complete fool: "We could release it any time we want," he's more interested in trying to give the game "that classic GT-style." And though "daily progress is slow," the Japanese developer assures us that "it's still going forward at a steady clip."

It does not take 4 years (going on 5) to develop a game that has a "classic GT-style" feel to it. He is just pissing people off by taking so long to release a game that is FULLY capable of being released at anytime he wants to. GT4 had a collection of over 700 cars.. This will have less than that initially. Man, there are so many fucking reasons why I will never buy this game. I hope they go broke.

Oh, and not to mention the fact that he has let slip a shitload different release dates.. starting from last year.

Starting from the most recent - http://eu.gran-turismo.com/au/news/d10596.html - March 2010
http://luxvelocity.typepad.com/luxv...rismo-5-release-date-set-for-december-29.html - Dec 29 2009
http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5s-q4-2009-release-date-confirmed/ - Q4 2009
http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2009/06/21/grand-turismo-5-release-date-leaked/ - November 27 2009
http://www.n4g.com/ps3/News-58315.aspx - July 2008

There are more.. but I do not have all day to track them down.

No racing games release has ever been delayed this much, and inevitably this means that the press is going apeshit over it. More press recognition + more people know about it + more people want to get it when it comes out = More money. All he's doing is fishing for dollars when he doesnt seem to realize that the fucking game will make millions regardless of when it is released. Providing he doesn't keep wasting money on the so called "development process".
What a fucking dumbarse.

*rant ended*

P.S.
Glossary:
Development Process - Kazunori Yamauchi sitting around wanking over the countless forum posts with people saying stuff like "WHEN THE FUCK IS THIS GAME GOING TO GET RELEASED?? I CANT WAIT TO BUY IT!!"

Yamauchi.. Go die.

whoa whoa calm down there fella, see your new here.

Yes you can get mad all you want but like you said he's there fishing for dollars, so why stop? To us gamers its about gaming to them its all about "buisness"

You have to think of it that way, you admit you see why they are delaying GT5, just gonna have to deal with it.

I think GT4 is still better than both Forza 1 or 2 in most areas, except graphics and damage, and engine swaps. I own all the GT's and Forza 1 and 2, and will be buying Forza 3 when I can afford it, so I'm not a fanboy. I just happen to think that GT has been better up to this point.

Now, I'll wait for final judgment on the better game when I've played Forza 3 and GT5, but up until this point, GT was still the best, imo.

Now, keep in mind that I'm a hardcore auto enthusiast, and actually modified and built cars for a living. GT, so far, has responded more realistically to suspension adjustments and such.

Can we get a link for proof... i highly doubt GT5 will only have 340 upon release with the possibility of downloading the other 600+ that seems quite ridiculous. Until link i'm gonna call BS.

Ive also pre-ordered Forza 3,

If its one thing im somewhat disappointed about this game is that its all the same cars from forza 2 plus all the DLC ones, and there's what about an extra 10-20 cars on top of that?

it seems like a re-vamped forza 2 to me, im not expecting much from Forza 3.

Forza 3 im thinking may be the best racing game ive played, EVAR!
I dunno people say this and that about GT5 but fact is its not out so you cant say its worse or better.

GT5 was meant to be out this Year at Christmas but they saw the Forza 3 release date and decided to wait and see how Forza turned out and then try make it better or steal features from it. Its a fact they deliberately delayed the game this time and its a strategy that might work.

But reality is Forza 3 is out now and its ready to play, its done it doesn't need extra tweaks.

Basing how good a game will be on its previous games has been wrong before, there where some average resident evil games and lets be honest plenty of games have had hype and been nothing like it aka Brutal Legend!

Nothing beats metropolitan street racer on the dreamcast but if GT5 is better than Forza 3 thats great for consumers too.

Did you compare car lists? You know not that many new cars did come out between the games, its hasnt been in development that long you know.

There's over 100 more cars in Forza 3, that includes new cars made since Forza 2 as well as lots of models not included in Forza 2, of course a lot of cars are going to be the same as they are very popular and this is a racing game after all. A lot of the DLC Cars in Forza 2 were cars made after the game came out, so it makes sense for them to add them in Forza 3, because the game was made after that and new cars will be put on DLC for Forza 3 which will probably be in Forza 4 if they make it. Of course it's a re-vamped Forza 2, it's a sequel. They want to either stick to the formula or just tweak it a little, although Forza 3 is completely different to Forza 2 in a good way, it's the same in many aspects. There was a lot of random cars in Forza 2, mostly low end family type cars, a lot of them probably wont make it into Forza 3 and would be replaced with other cars, not to mention there's new cars like the Ferrari 428 (?) Italia, Lamborghini Reventon, Bugatti Veyron etc.

Overall it's going to be an amazing game, it seems to improve on every aspect of Forza 2, and I don't doubt it will be in the top racing games. As for GT5, well, it's not out yet so nobody can say anything, well besides the fact it's taking so bloody long. It's a good thing though, GT5 wasn't out in 2007 so I didn't get a PS3 and got a 360 and Forza 2 instead :D

Have you played the final version, not just the demo? I have and its a great racing game. Far superior to Forza 1 & 2.

I could be talking out of my arse, but GT has taken almost 5 years to make (I think) and it still isnt actually here. But Forza took about 2 years (I think) so would obviously have been built using uptodate techniques. For Sony to wait this long for the competition to release their car games (mainly meaning MicroShafts Forza 3) means they cant really go back on 5 years worth of work and change too much.

I honestly do hope Im wrong because GT was/is the greatest car game franchise ever and I would love to be blown away by GT5.......but Im not holding my breath :(

It'll have more than F3, eventually, but at the beginning it'll have less... Then the add-ons will add more to the count. But the thing is it will mostly be adding racing cars. Honestly, racing cars are shit. I'd much rather have real-life cars in a game like that :)

I'll try asking again... Prove IT! I still don't believe this, I can't find any information that claims less than 800 cars at launch. Where are you getting this stuff?

NVM, found the article you read..... Sony announcement from 2007 stating GT5 will have 10,000 cars with 340 available at launch.. lol

Way out of date info, totally bogus, actually think it was probably a joke to begin with..

Please stop spreading false info stevles

Yeah, see how many different versions of skyline r34's and honda nsx's they had? there was probably 10 cars wasted between them two in gt4.
