It could be proper optimization, it could be DX12, it could be it's bc of the XB1 port and the AMD hardware in it, could be the engine that makes better use of the brute force the Vega chip has...
BUT (and you know how they say, everything before the BUT is mostly bullshit),
Gears of War 4 was also W10/XB1 exclusive and in that game V64 is barely on par with a regular 1080.

The other part i find odd is the 1080ti catches up at 4k where, in every title i can recall, the hbm/hbm2 cards shrink the performamce gap, or here should EXTEND the lead, yet it does the opposite...

It's in there.
I think you misunderstood what I meant. I pointing out how the Vega 56 seems to be the sweet spot for FPS, and frame latency. To me the Vega 64 doesn't exist.

Agreed that is the strangest part of these new amd cards.

Is this in English? LOL!

It still showed it with GDDR5X... 11 gbps is 484 GB/s whereas HBM is 512 GB/s. It had (and has) more. HBM2 is just as fast...

Why all talk about AMD optimising their drivers?
Why not talk about game developers start optimising games for AMD Drivers?

Not being rude or fanboy or anything, it is just that games get more optimised for NV GPUs than AMD GPUs, that is what its hampering AMD GPUs performance.

Without the software manipulation, Nvidia will have to up their hardware game on their GPUs and start using HBM memory and make GPUs lot more expencive.

Just to give you an idea of what im talking about, start a mining software and look at the hash rate on both.
I bet VEGA 64 will get better hash rate which means more raw power on GPU, which means better performance overall.

Mining and gaming really have little to do with each other. AMD optimised games never made this big of a difference.

On the contrary, it realy shows what a GPU is capable in its raw power state, no software tweaks or anything.

Nvidia has always given better support in game development. It's a two way street, but Nvidia has been far more proactive.

I said hbm at the time of release nothing came close and gdd5x can oc higher past hbm2 can. The point is the past with hbm the bandwidth was so great it made a difference in 4k

Benchmark Scores They're pretty good, nothing crazy.
I would be interested to see if these results could be replicated, I am a bit skeptical. It may be possible that even something simple like the power plan settings bugging out could cause this.

This should be retested with 8700K 5.0 Ghz. and no AA. Also GPU/CPU frequency-usage graphs to be trustworthy..

The geforce driver carries big processor overhead when using AA and in general. The FPS is almost unchanged for 2K and 4K delivering 90-110.

Ahh driver improvement... the beckon call of the underdog.. :p

This is more an anomaly than sensible position. Beta title... and oddly enough when you go up in res, nvidia gets closer... with all that hbm2 bandwidth, and in the past, amd cards improved against nvidia as the res went up.
I agree mostly, but the 1080 Ti is overtaking because of more ROPs. Also keep in mind that Fury X was scaling with high resolution because of CPU bottleneck in lower resolutions going away. In the end only the Hawaii GPUs were excellent for higher resolutions compared to the competition (then, Kepler), with 64 ROPs vs. 48. Since Maxwell, Nvidia has equally as much ROPs or more, 980 Ti has 96 ROPs, 1080 Ti has 88 (full GPU has 96 as well) while Vega 64 maintains 64.

DX12 and Vulcan games made from the ground up favour CGN with the exception of Gears of War 4. So, where AMD loses in low res in DX11 or badly DX12 optimised games, in those they are faster because the compute power into them can be fully utilised. Simple as that. DX11 games being single threaded is the main reason nVidia is still selling more GPUs up to the price range of GTX1080. The new APIs is why the Volta arch is made but they aren't in any rush to bring it to pc gamers yet in 16nm (not many DX12-Vulcan games to show its performance advantage vs Pascal) and they will bring out the 1070Ti instead. Volta will be better than Pascal only in DX12 and Vulcan games and 12nm will help somehow to not see that clearly, allowing them higher clocks than in 14nm, thus lower than Pascal no matter what. My 5 cents.

I think this has more to do with Nvidia cards losing the multi-threaded driver optimizations with DX12 and AMD making up for it with all that hardware scheduling.

I also think the newer AMD drivers are pretty well running on DX11 games, but it also depends which architecture we're speaking of. Fury X was pretty much underutilised always, unless you happen to have a game that used Async Compute, a feature that uses inbuilt Fiji hardware to utilize cores way better than any software could ever do. That said, Hawaii and especially Polaris are way better balanced architectures and therefore don't need high resolution for proper utilization. I think this is even true for the new Vega GPUs. Forza 7 could actually be a game that happens to be Vega optimised, using features of it the competition simply doesn't have. Or it's just Async Compute once again. But this time it's not a RTS pretty much abused as a benchmark all the time.
